Id rather quickly buff it out Heat gun in the wrong hands = New paint job

I was at a car meet few months ago. Another Zl1 was there. It was a 17 with 65k miles on it. He said he drove across country a few times in it. He told me he paid $5000 to have ppf installed all over the car which I thought was great. After looking his car over he showed me a few rock chips on the front and I swear the chip was so deep i seen primer. So don't find it worth it.

I’m not a fan of the PPF idea on this car. 4-6k to do the whole car is ridiculous for a camaro even if it’s a ZL1. I’m sure I can have the whole car painted for that much so why do PPF?

With that said, I will be purchasing a 2023 ZO6 and will PPF the front end. Just because the car will be a bit more special.

My car being black, im glad i got the whole car done. It was definitely expensive but its much easier to clean and i dont have swirls in my paint. If any show up from wiping the car down the sun takes care of it. I wish i had have known about this stuff when i owned my Trailblazer SS. The spots in front of the rear tires looked like they had been sandblasted. The SS was blue, but the panels in front of the rear tires were like grey from the damage. Had i had the PPF on the SS, those panels with paint damage would have been greatly reduced if any at all. THe stuff is pretty amazing. Just my opinion.

I love it. I had the car paint corrected then completely covered in PPF. It looks fantastic.

Ive had the front bumper done to my last 3 camaros. Great stuff. Had my 2013 ZL1 for 8 years and had it on from day 1 and have had no issues or chips. I love seeing a flawless front end. When we bought my wife's brand new audi A6 in 2016 i wanted to get the front bumper PPF protected but the guy i go to had an appointment that was a month out. Needless to say it got 3 rock chips in the first 2 weeks so i said screw it. Fast forward to present day, it looks like the front bumper got sandblasted by rocks. Its my wife's daily so it gets driven. For me, since we live in the shitty San Francisco area, the roads are horrible. You would think with a handful of gas taxes, ever increasing bridge tolls, one of the highest states for cost of vehicle registration all supposedly going towards road and bridge maintenance, you would think we'd have silky smooth roads. yeah right.

Depends on where you live, a really good quality paint job can run you about $10k. I live in Cali so everything's expensive. For example, I just bought my ZLE in Sept from a dealer in NH. Between the day I bought the car and the day they put PPF on the car, my front bumper got damaged at the dealer. Since I bought the car sight unseen, they had sent me photos prior to purchase and the transport company had taken note of the damage too so the dealer is paying for the repairs. They asked me to get two estimates. I went to 2 body shops and one body shop is owned by a buddy of mine too. It costs over $2k just to refinish the bumper. That's just for paint and labor. No parts are being replaced and the estimate doesn't even include the replacement cost for the PPF. That will come later. So in some places yes, repainting may be cheaper than PPF the whole car. For me, its the least expensive way to protect my car and still have a out of the showroom look. Sorry about the pics, dont know why they come out flipped.

Normally the sun takes care of stuff like this. But when it's cold and cloudy, a heat gun or hair dryer does the trick.

If a heat gun is a little to dangerous , then 650HP is probably a bad choice Just saying.....
