C8 no contest if you like auto cars. A base c8 is as loaded as a 2ss. I have sat in a base c8, it was nicer inside than my 2ss.

Gonna be awhile before you can get a C8, even used. I'd get a loaded SS or a used ZL1

1) You will not be able to buy a C8 till next year (2021).
2) A base C8 is going to be short of a few items that would make it more desirable, not the least of which is the Z51 package and MRC. 3) You might be able to get into a ZL1 for the ~$60K ish dollar amount. 4) C7s are cheap right now. Stupid Question: Is now a time to buy a new car?

Indeed this is a moot point since there are no C8s for a long time.
But the OP should be aware that a base C8 doesn't even have HUD. You will be able to get a 2SS, which is very nicely equipped, for much much less. If you don't care about active suspension or dual mod exhaust, the 2SS will be about 14K less than a base Corvette, and even less less if you opt for a 6 speed. |

The first C8 may not age very well. As it's setup now I think the major differences between your two cars are looks (obviously) significantly better acceleration off the line, and slightly better handling. Once you dig out of the hole it doesn't sound like there's all that much difference in acceleration between the current C8 and a ZL1. It wouldn't surprise me if a ZL1 rolling down the interstate accelerates more quickly at WOT than the C8.
There is plenty of talk about 600+ hp C8s in the near future. I currently have an SS 1LE, which I use to take three kids to school. In a couple of years the middle son can become the bus driver and at that point a supercharged 600+ hp C8 might be nice, assuming I can get over the lack of a manual. |

I'm not a fan of that short hood long deck on the new Vette, nor the Paddy cake transmission. Sure the Performance and value is unbeatable. But I'd get a C7 Vette with a stick. Still outrageous performance plus new unsold ones still on the lot with 0% financing.

If it were me, I wouldn’t buy either right now. If you have cash, wait a bit longer for the market to hit bottom and invest in some of the really beat up sectors.
Auto sales are going to be in rough shape for at least 6 months. You’ll have even more leverage by waiting on buying either of the 2 impractical cars (Vet or Camaro), at the end of the year.... |

The day to buy into the market was two days ago. Airlines and Cruise lines are up 50+% in the last 2 days. Fiddy per cent. |

Yep, I bought into Norwegian Cruise lines and Us Global jets last week. Sold off today.... stimulus isn’t going to make either of those two have passengers anytime soon. Back to our regularly scheduled program,
If it were you, what would you buy - Vet or Camaro? Last edited by Chutzpah; 03-25-2020 at 07:06 PM. |
