I will be heading out to Road America over the 4day (June 29-July 2) Northwoods Shelby Club event, so hopefully I will have some feedback for you on oil temps. I do have a manual ZLE for reference. It will be the first time I will be tracking this car as I'm still breaking it in.

I believe you're the guy (Matt) that was pitted next to us while we were testing our Green 350Z Champ Car. If so, hoping you are signed up for this event as well!

There is a note about coolant being able to evaporate in the manual. Not sure how that happens in a closed system but it's the only way I can explain having to add coolant.

Well at least I'm not the only one that runs hot. I'll see what adding distilled water and water wetter does for temps. I'll drain it before storage and add 50/50 back.



Hopefully it's not too warm out. I would rather not have to run 98 octane if it's over 86F. Road America gas is like $10 / gallon.



I'm in group 2 with my buddy in a C6. I ran an advanced group last weekend and ran a 2:27.04. There's going to be so many cars / traffic I'm not planning on chasing times, and I will be on older tires. I have so much tread left on my take offs I don't want to trash them. If there wasn't so much traffic I'd use a new set and keep these, but not sure if it's worth using a new set with 250 cars on Saturday.

Both of my cars the ZL1 A10 and ZL1 1LE A10 hit oil temps 290 - 297 F on hot days and long sessions. Oil sampling has not identified any degradation with 700 - 1000-mile change intervals (3-5 track days with some street driving). I run Mobil 1 15W-50.

For the radiator a 40% mixture of Dexcool has a 260 F boil over point and a -12 F freezing point. That is 2.25 gallons of 50/50 Dexcool and .5 gallons of water, plus one bottle of Redline Water Wetter.

For the intercooler, you don't need boil over protection, so a 33% mixture provides enough freeze protection for North Carolina. That is .75 gallons of 50/50 Dexcool and .375 gallons of water, plus 1/4 bottle of Redline Water Wetter.

I like Redline, because it's red and won't change the color of the Dexcool, plus I have used it for 20+ years with good results.

*EDIT: Add the Water Wetter first. It is more important that a few more ounces of water.

I haven't touched my intercooler circuit. I get max 11.9lbs of boost with just a CAI so I'm leaving it alone.
-12F still isn't enough for winter storage. So I will need to run two different concentrations in track season and winter. Is draining the coolant from the petcock on the passenger side sufficient?

Checked my PDR and my trans fluid hit 230F, so it is probably taking away cooling capabilities in the system.
When I got my transmission drained and filled, I asked the dealer about installing the ZLE transmission pan and they recommended keeping it as is even with tracking it. Their foreman is a ZL1 / Corvette specialist and is very respected in the Corvette community/forums, so I respect his opinion. I get the fluid changed before 15 hours of track time, closer to 12-13 hours.

Same issues. 270 or more on only a 60° day. Plans are to delete the supercharger coolant to oil cooler heat exchanger. Get the colder coolant away from the engine oil heat!! Add a new plate on the side of the oil pan and run a new oil cooler only, about an extra quart of oil. If that does nothing then getting an ice tank but no ice for the SC, just an extra 3 gallons in the tank to keep the SC cooler. Last a new SC bigger heat exchanger. If I go weaponX they sell a new heat exchanger with the two side ones also. Not sure if those are SC coolant or radiator coolant etc but just bigger and better stuff all around.

The overflow reservoir is not pressurized (the bottom tank with the tiny fill port). There are minor losses from it.

The link I posted earlier with a vpracing coolant 70/30 with water wetter promises a 14f drop in water temps. I am in next coolant change.
