GIANT SEA GULL DROPPINGS!?!?!

On Saturday, I washed my black 2SS. Got it looking pretty good.

On Sunday morning, I ran out to get some eggs and as I was leaving the parking lot, my hood got nailed by an alarmed sea gull bigtime!

For those of you not near the shore, the droppings are HUGE. There was crap on my hood almost as wide as the center section and going the whole length of the hood.

I used a wet/soapy microfiber glove to clean it off. What a mess!

What is your best way to remove bird droppings, gigantic or not?

Quick detailer to wait thoroughly and let sit for short time (depending on how old the dropping is). Then try to blot or carefully get the dropping up with a microfiber. DO NOT wipe the dropping until all solid substance is off the hood. One more spray with detailer spray and then wipe clean. The problem with bird droppings - and specifically seagull droppings - is that they often contain shell pieces which scratch terribly.

Couldn't agree more! Amazing how much damage that can do to the paint in a VERY short amount of time. This is why I always have at least two microfiber towels and a bottle of quick detailer in the car at all times.

Holy cow, I didn't think of this!!!

I didn't notice any scratching, but will be giving it a close look when I get home.

Don't wipe. Absolutely drench the dropping with a lubricant of your choice and pat the area with a microfiber to lift off the dropping from the paint. Wiping the abrasive dropping can mar your paint. Also remove ASAP. Dropping are stupid acidic and will also mar your paint by just sitting on it.

Are you thinking of something other than water?

I'm planning to keep a spray bottle of rinseless in the trunk for such contingencies.

Man i hate bird droppings with a passion, Please update if you get it back to the way it should be. I had my paint damaged too many times in the past which also made me move away from Black or darker colors. The acid in the crap is just impossible to control if you dont get it off while its still wet, even a few minutes of it on the car will haze the paint as well cause crack marks.

I actually thought they had missed and didn't realize I had been nailed until I got home later that day, so it was mostly (not completely) dry by the time I cleaned it off.

I will take a good hard look at it tonight when I get home. It snowed today, so the Camaro stayed in the garage while the Jeep took me to work. I doubt the Camaro is going to see the road much now that the ice, sand, and salt is out.

A good rinseless made into a detailer works awesome for bird crap, soft Mf towel, do not scrub, and keep spraying so it is nice and lubricated...have had this happen a few times, works great everytime. Always keeps a spray bottle of rinseless detailer and MF towels in my cargo net in the trunk.

Waterless wash, rinseless wash, detail spray, quick wax, etc. My choice is rinseless wash. It's affordable and I dilute it myself.
