If you do use a dealer for oil changes, I highly suggest you check the oil level BEFORE you drive off. They cannot even be trusted to put in the correct quantity of oil and are very likely to underfill.

I'm going to throw my two cents in because it seems to differ.
I let the dealer do oil changes and service while under warranty, because I want it on record. Ive never had a warranty denial when the dealer can see every service since the car was PDI'd. I have had warranty disputes on prior cars before I started doing this (even with dealer receipts for buying the oil/filter and doing it yourself).

Sure, check the oil level and take a knee to make sure it isnt dripping from the bellypan afterwards.

Out of warranty, pretty easy to do yourself if you have the space.

Simi Valley Chevy (Jonathan S) just took excellent care of me on a 1LE service.
