Best value aftermarket exhaust brands?

Hey everyone!

I just bought my first car, a '12 SS a few months ago and I want to change up the exhaust. Some of the brands I saw were Borla, Magnaflow, Flowmaster, etc. I really liked the low rumble of a cat back street Borla exhaust but then saw it was around $2000. Yikes... not going to drop that much until I am more knowledgeable on some of these parts.

What brands would you suggest and why? Looking for around the $600 range to start

Thanks!

If you're looking to spend ~$600 you can find yourself some mufflers but you won't find a cat-back for that much, unless maybe you want to piece together your own and have a shop put it all together (such as an x-pipe/resonated x-pipe in place of the factory h-pipe; removing the resonators; and the axle-back/mufflers).

I'm a fan of doing things once and doing it right (within reason of course - $$$) so I would save a few bucks and get what you really want. Personally I'm a fan of Magnaflow because of their "clean" and rumbly sound but that's just me, and everyone, of course, has their own opinions.

Good luck!

Honestly, if you want noise - start at the FRONT of the car. The 4 catalytic converters on this car really stanch the great noises these engines make.

Long tube headers through the stock exhaust is a great combo.

Texas Speed's headers are under that $600 tag, too.

You get what you pay for.

Borla or Corsa if you plan on keeping the car.

We have a section for this. Go do some reading in the V8 bolt ons/exhaust section. All your answers will be fulfilled.

Not any cheaper than Borla, but look at Stainless Works too.

Best value?

Legato makes an awesome sounding axle back that is $299 brand new. I think it is designed similarly to Flowmaster AT series.

I was very surprised at the level of quality when I got it and it sounded great. But it's in my garage as I took it off in favor of the Flowmaster Outlaw Axleback. I am never 100% satisfied with exhausts on this car. Probably going back on soon.

Well you know my preference, but I have to have an impartial reason to put Borla first.
