Uh-Oh - Rough Idle, Losing RPMs when Idling - Any Ideas?

It's not too dramatic (yet), but I noticed when idling, either parked or at stoplights, I go through periods where I lose RPMs for an instant, car shakes a little bit, and then back to normal.

I've seen everything from bad spark plugs to air intakes to valves.

Anybody have any ideas? 44k miles on the car.

MAF sensor may need to be cleaned. I spray mine off with sensor safe cleaner evey 10k or so. But I never put the high velcoity staw on the nozzle as that could damage the wires.

Typically the MAF sensor is mounted in the air intake duct. I'm not exactly sure where it is on the V6 though.

I found a picture for you. Obviously the OP is modding his to separate the MAF and IAT since they are in the same housing, but you get the idea.

Got it, just a bit of disassembly. What do I use to clean it, you mentioned a sensor cleaner of some sort? Could you tell me what exactly it was?

Look for "CRC Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner." Can't miss it.

Yep that is the stuff. Sensor safe and leaves no residue.
