Join Torq at the SCCA Auto-X Aug 14th!!!

As many of you might know, I am a frequent visitor to auto-x and track events pretty much all over the country. And one thing I always like to do is bring along customers who have never been to track before to get to learn how to really drive their Camaros and to see what they are capable of! Auto-X is a cheap and extremely fun way to do this. Last event we had 4 5th Gens on site and they had an absolute blast!

"Camp TORQ" at the last SCCA event at PBIR

Xavier with his Torq-750 and my Project Cammedmaro lined up!

Anywho, the next event down here in South Florida is August 14th at the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise, and since we will be there with my car as well as with a few customer cars I wanted to extend the invitation to other C5 member looking to have a some fun, regardless of driving experience. Let's show all these Subarus and Mustang guys what these Camaros can do

My technician John (also and avid Autocrosser) and myself will be available for instructing, and if you have any questions about a proper set-up for you Camaro this would be a perfect time to discuss it. Ride alongs (limited space) will also be available in my own "Race Spec" Camaro for those interested!

Here is a link to the registration site, spaces are limited so sign up fast if you want to come! You won't regret it

http://www.dlbracing.com/drivers/log...%26LMID%3d3203

Create an Account, then just sign up for the Aug 14th event! This will be one of the most fun and educative ways to spend $40. The fun part about Auto-X is that you race rain or shine, and really the worst thing that could happen is running over a cone or two, and yes we have ALL done that

Here is a link to an awesome video that really explains the whole Auto-X scene for those whom have never been

http://vimeo.com/12067348

And here is a short video of the same event at the same location a few months ago. The Bank Atlantic "track" is actually really fun!

We hope to see lots of C5 guys AND girls out there, this is fun for the whole family! If you have any questions please just send me an email, PM or simply call me at the shop. We will be meeting up at TORQ HQ before hand and cruising up together, so if anyone need help finding the place let me know. Spots are limited so if you are interested sign up fast!

/Erik

thanks erik, i made another thread in the southeast section as well.

guys, this is a great way to learn the abilities of you and your car in a safe and secure way. besides me and erik we have many other experienced instructors out there who would be more than happy to help out.

for anyone signing up, a very rough class breakdown for you guys would be like this

for cars with stock cats, no major engine mods(no blowers, cammed, etc) basically stock cars, you will be in F stock class

for cars with things like bolt ons, tires, longtubes(catted or not) but no blowers, cams, slicks, etc you will be in ESP class

for cars with major engine mods ie cammed, blowers, heads, stripped out, then you will be in SM class

any other questions please feel free to PM me or erik and we can help you out

the intake excludes you from f stock. i would enter ESP class to be safe. you may technically fall into a class called stu, but the only cars in there are some nasty STis. if you enter esp youll be ok and youll be in my class

It really is a lot of fun. I plan on heading out on the 14th to meet up with you guys again. Erik/John, thanks for the hospitality at the PBIR event last month. I don't think I would have survived without the tent.

That seems like a blast. More so than the dragstrip. I'll bring this up to the SFC5 guys tonight.

Edit: Dang. That's the last day of my lease and my move-out/move-in date to my new place. Gotdambit. (@*#^%*(&!

Do I hear a tad of irony in your voice

Anywho, HP really has so little to do with setting a good time at autocross. Driver mod is the single most important thing, then balance, handling and power. In Arizona at the C5 fest, 4th fastest time OVERALL was a bone stock V6 rental! Even at C5 Fest I the 3rd fastest time in the street tire class was a V6 with a few minor suspension mods.

It's all in good fun, run what ya brung as I say.
