That song you are quoting was done by CURTIS MAYFIELD, but thet was probably before your time.

Be Thankful For What You Got is by William DeVaughn. I have the record (yes, record, vinyl, wax).

And yes it is before my time. But I know Curtis Mayfield's (and the Impressions') top songs. Be Thankful For What You Got by William DeVaughn, released in 1974 on Roxbury, is not one of them. The Superfly soundtrack is my favorite soundtrack of all-time, though. And Mayfield was a musical genius, who wasn't afraid to sing about more than oooh-baby-love-me. RIP.

The GPS on OnStar is not really worth it to me when I have smart phone (or could get a GPS for $100 one time price instead of subscription fee).
For $77/yr, I'll take the the XM subscription.
got a new deal out now!..just got a letter from them!..5 months for 20.00
check it out!

I got my car new in Feb, XM trial ended 24th of last month, i had called before the trial ended, and asked for the 77yr deal, and got it, i asked for an Invoice, checked my acount online, and the balance is correct, but havent recieved a invoice in the mail yet. LOVE MY XM, hate Local stuff, hate commericials, and they have very little section of songs, same stuff over and over.

Onstar, only thing ive used it for, was the turn by turn during my 30 day trial of it, it wont be getting renewed.

I don't like the radio either...I don't think i've listened to it in 2 years maybe

Now XM on the other hand has a bunch of stations that I can pick and choose from and not have to hear any annoyng DJ's all the time. I took the 5 months @ $20 just to try out XM again and I'm liking it.

No way they are going to get my CC either, so I asked for an invoice as well.

I will never give a penny of my money to XM. They have TERRIBLE customer service and have ripped a lot of members off. I have my own story to tell about them, but suffice it to say, they are scum. Don't get XM. (If you do decide to get it despite this warning, don't ever give them a credit card number. Only pay by check!) If you want more info on XM and why they are despicable, just do a search. You'll find plenty of threads about them.

We are in south georgia and though I like xm the price has got unreasonable, so I have a portable that I can move from car to car. As far as the onstar, navigation, it is about worthless to us. The only thing that i might consider keeping is the safe and secure, since I travel 60 miles a day this may come in handy, just incase of an emergency.

I love and use XM 80% of the time and have had no issues at all. Onstar I doubt I will renew as the navigation is terrible compared to a Garmin and I doubt I will lock keys in car or have yearly accidents to make this a worthwhile service. If you have a cellphone you are pretty much set to cover the occasional "emergency".

Like lwlkr92, I would have preferred Sirius, less signal dropouts & they are cheaper for the exact same channels. But, I bought a 3 year sub. I hate the commercials on radio.

As far as OnStar, i will probably renew. I like the peace of mind in case of theft or accident & it's nice getting the monthly diagnostic reports. I do wish they would let you go the website & query the position of your car, (I travel & am seldom at home).

I'm keeping both on my 2010 Camaro, but if it was one or the other, I would have kept onstar. My mother totaled her 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe last year, and as soon as the crash happened, someone from onstar was on the speakers asking if she needed safety crews sent to her location. I didnt keep the directions & connection package (that came free for a year on new Camaros), but it's nice to know that if I ever get in a crash, someone will be there to call the safety crews immediately...

I say hells no to XM... It's called pandora app and it can be used via usb or audio cable... Build your own station and listen to your own music. Not just another radio station that plays a set group of songs pretty much over and over.

If you dont have AT&T for a wireless company, unlike me...waiting till i can ditch there pos service, and move to Verizon..Then Pandora may be for you.

Anyways..to me Pandora in my area is worthless, cause i dont even have 3G coverage in my area where i live and drive around 99 percent of the time. The signal is only E, and its little to none. So XM is for me!!! I love it.
