Back at it tomorrow - Hoping to get all the trunion/rocker stuff done, the pushrods in (hopefully the sizing I got was right) and then prep the engine bay to accept the motor (lay in the headers, move some stuff around etc.

Game plan is the following weekend we'll move the motor from the stand to the hoist and lower her in, then start re-attaching everything... Hopefully that only takes one full day and we can fire and check for leaks. Otherwise we'll finish up the week after and fire it.


After that we'll the tuner is going to pull some fuel out (from the cam lobe upgrade on the HPFP) and then get a driveable tune in it and drop it for dyno tuning. Hoping it the tuning finished by mid-march

Then it comes home for the new front lip to go on, potentially new wheels and tires to track use, new track brake pads, and light weight battery and rear seat delete and a full detail. Once that's all done it'll probably be ready to have a few shake down backroad trips before getting it out on track. Hoping to have it on track by first week of April.

An update!

It finally runs...

Currently it's with my tuner for dyno tuning after a few maintenance items that a shop nearby took care of...

Untuned idle vids below, this is with the NPP exhaust in "Touring" mods with the baffles closed, so Sport/Track will definitely LOUD AF - glad this isn't my DD ...

Dyno vids and graphs probably Monday - Will get re-aligned next week and then I need to clean it up - the paint and interior are filthy from sitting so long.

Been sorting out some minor issues over the last few weeks...

Took care of....
  • Full interior detail (my buddy's garage was near a chicken coop and there was some odor, which is now totally gone)
  • New windshield (got a rock chip on the way to the first tune appointment)
  • new ZL1Add Ons rock guards
  • New front lip installed
  • Found a brake boost leak - fixed it
  • front end alignment
  • Fixed loose steering shaft bolts

Also - while I wasn't disappointed totally with the original tune and tuner, I was unhappy with some of the low rpm/low throttle input response I was having from the car and after some conversations, decided to have another take a look... Old dyno and new below...
20whp peak and almost 40wtq peak, with a much fatter torque curve. It's also really obvious when the cam "comes on" between 3250-3500. Hopefully the drivability is much better here too, that'll be seen this weekend when I pick it up
