ZLE, because you'll you will always wonder if you could enjoy it. The answer to that is yes, smiles for miles. ZL1 is a great car, the ZLE is a great racecar. It's special, and why not buy what makes you smile instead of what's practical. If you wanted practical, get a Mercedes or something. It won't be as fast, but it will be way more comfy.

That's a terrible reason to buy a 1LE.

Really depends on your purpose. For a daily driver it is, for a track car it isn't.

Daily drive a tank if you want. Your money, your choice. You will determine on day 1 whether it was a good idea for you.

Here is how I thought of it.

I want a Camaro, I want a fast Camaro, I don't live near a track, but I'd like to know that if and when I take it to a track, I'm not thinking about a ZLE. Even the people with a ZL1, don't need the ZLE. The decision is a combination of preference and practicality and financial recklessness. Worst case, I have a nicely preserved ZLE that can get a little premium over peoples track cars, best case I learn to use that car to its potential and really have a lot of fun with it. In my case, I found a CPO ZLE at a great price, so Warranty + below MSRP + not worrying about breaking and all that other shit means I can have a little fun with it and not sweat the small stuff. I got the car, it doesn't ride like my GMC sierra with magnaride, it rides like a sports car. I think it's great. I only plan to keep it for a year or 2... unless I track the thing and start to love it.

If you can afford both, and you're not immediately ruling out the ZLE, why not get one ? Whether or not it makes a good daily is the wrong question to ask. That's like asking if pancakes make a good dinner. My vote is for the ZLE simply because it's what I know and the claims of a harsh ride are true, but it's not a bad harsh, it's an engaged harsh. It's such a nice car.

The most important thing, is that you stop postponing this and go get one or the other. You only have so many days on this earth. Make em count.

Amen! Just like you, I wanted a ZLE and that’s what I bought. It was the right decision for me and that’s what matters. It gets real old listening to those that don’t own a ZLE telling those of us that do, how foolish we were to buy one. I have not figured out their motivation for continuing to slam our decision. Will it ever see a track, probably not, because there aren’t any near me, but the car leads to great conversations with other car guys, just like several of my other cars.

Sure, I get that. But why? What is better in ZLE vs ZL1 for daily driver? I see only looks, but price and jumpy DSSV makes it worse in MY EYES.

I disagree, this is not an encyclopedia that can only have one entry for everything, it's a live forum for discussion.

When new joiners bring something up again, let them. We can show them the context and ask them to search, but there can always be new angles even to the same question.

I'll muddy the waters even more: You can stiffen up the handling of the ZL-1 with suspension goodies from BMR, and you can soften the edges of the 1-LE with different shocks and street tires.
