Best ZL1 Mods - Keeping factory warranty

Hi all,

I got my 2022 ZL1 1LE 6-Speed 2 month ago.
First Chevy for me -> Great car

I'm wondering which Mods are worth it and maintain the factory warranty?

Mods that will keep your warranty intact will be subjective in nature, like a Rotofab for more super charger whine, or a cat-back exhaust for louder exhaust noise.

No mods will give you significant power and keep your warranty, so from a performance perspective no 'warranty friendly' mods are really 'worth it' IMO.

Stripes and splash guards come to mind

Kidding aside, anything that adds perceptible power will technically impact your warranty, if only because they will require a tune.

Note that I'm saying "impact" and not "void", because there is a huge gray area with these separate warranties gm provides, and because each case depends a lot on the dealership handling a potential claim. You also need to consider how valuable the powertrain warranty is to you, the quality you get from dealership service departments can be a hit and miss, especially with timeboxed, fixed rate warranty work.

Congrats on your first Chevy!
You picked a great one to start with

Great question BTW, although you will be disappointed with the answer, so long you were asking about performance power adding mods.

IMO, if you are in need of, and wanting to maintain your warranty i would keep the car stock. there are plenty of cosmetic mods you can add if you are really wanting to customize it.

Example: Tint, Side marker lights, RGB headlights, custom wrap, custom wheels...

At some point... 650hp gets old, and the car will feel slow, and your buddy with 700+ rwhp will give you a ride, and soon the engine will be out of the car in your garage... oh, wait

This. And since he mentioned it, the difference between 560whp and 700whp is light years. It’s a completely different driving experience with 700. One ride in the car at that level and most people will chunk the warranty out the window.

Get a RotoFab intake and not the big gulp model. The best money I spent on my ZL1.

Rotofab intake and axleback exhaust is about all you can do. Like said anything requiring a retune loses your warranty.

In my opinion, the two best ZL1 mods you can do and still maintain the factory powertrain warranty are:

1. Replace the OEM paper air filter with a green or another high-flow drop-in filter.
2. Remove the rain/snow blocker behind the upper grill and driver’s side headlight.

The filter replacement will noticeably improve throttle response.

Removing the rain/snow blocker will give the air a more direct path to the intake tract. This will build boost a little faster and give the car a little more low-end grunt. You'll also get a bit of a ram-air effect at highway speeds.

The best thing is the cost will be about $60 and 45 minutes of your time.

This lol^^^

Warranty was gone at mile 501. I took my then stock Camaro down the drag strip and thought: “Not bad, but that’s not gonna work me”

Window tint and driver mods are the best things you can do to keep it within the warranty.

Best mods you can buy while keeping the warranty:
1) Convertible. Oops too late, RIP.
2) PPF and hydrophobic coating. For track use: add rock/clag guards.
3) Powerstop Z26 pads (street use only). If you take it to the track, keep the OEM setup and follow the track prep guide.
4) Driver mod.

There you go.

You already have the best track weapon value for money on the planet. You don't need to modify it. Just drive it.

You can install a K&N intake and Tony mamo potted throttle body v2 with stock tune and pick up a couple mph in the 1/4 mile. Will reduce 60-130 mph by a few tenths as well. So while you can’t really feel the difference, it is measurable.

Food for thought... Would this work???

Step.1 - Remove stock ECU and store in a safe place.
Step.2 - Install replacement ECU
Step.3 - Install Rotofab, Upper Pulley, 103mm TB (keep stock parts)
Step.4 - Tune & Enjoy

Then just swap back everything if for some reason you needed to make a warranty claim?
