Dealer brake fluid swap out

I was going to take my car into the dealer to do the dot 3 to 4 brake fluid swap but then I got to thinking. If they are going to use any off the shelf dot 4 fluid I can do it myself and not pay the $200 bucks they are going to change for it. So my questions is has anyone had this done at the dealership and if so did they disclose what brand they used?

Just to add I'm not a heavy track guy but they do have charity events at Charlotte Speedway so I will be going there from time to time for good causes and some fun.

Also just to add my manual and the cap on my master cylinder say the car already has dot 4 fluid in it. I know it may be a silly ask but is it true that all come with dot 3?

Thanks in advance!!!!!

I have had the dealer flush my brake fluid many times. I just supply the fluid (Castrol SRF FWIW).

Not sure what comes in yours stock but I would trust the cap and manual unless someone has changed it.

I invested in a Motive PowerBleeder tool about a year ago. I change the fluid in my cars at least once a year and the PowerBleeder just makes it so much easier and quicker.

6th gen Camaro was originally filled with DOT3 fluid when it first launched, but at some point they switched to a DOT4 factory fill with yours being after that switch. Dealer will use the same fluid if you don't provide your own, but it's pretty easy to do yourself. Only real thing to watch out for is making sure the reservoir always has fluid in it and it takes just about 1L to fully flush the system.

Not all DOT4 is created equal, however. I believe factory fill is the ACDelco DOT4 fluid which has lower boiling points than the others listed in this thread so far. Depending on how often you track your car, how hard you drive, and how hard the track is on brakes you can sometimes use less expensive DOT4 fluids like ATE TYP200 or Motul RBF 600. I've used both on my local tracks driving hard without issue since they're not the absolute worst on brakes, but if I were to go to a track that is worse (like VIR) I'd opt for the SRF, RBF 660, or Brembo HTC 64T fluids for their higher boiling points to have that extra margin of safety.

Get the Motive PowerBleeder and run Motul or ATE. I use to be able to get the Ate in super blue (it was colored blue) which made the flush super easy. But the good old US government screwed that up. Appearantly DOT regs state that brake fluid has to be straw colored, even though its the same damn fluid just without the blue dye.

I’m going to use my son’s Motive PowerBleeder soon for the first time. Could someone tell me the sequence of where to start bleeding and next…? I understand longest run first. On a 2020 SS 1LE.
