I didn't know owning the top trim affects people's perception of reality this much—what a psychological experiment it'd be if gm suddenly released a Z/28 or a brand new ZL2 or really anything above their trim... not gonna happen, I know, but would all those precious ZL1 parts lose their uber status all of a sudden?

Don't buy either, these aren't forged, unlike your stock ZL1 wheels, so you are giving up structural integrity and load bearing capacity for looks. If you don't like the ZL1 wheel design, get stock SS 1LE wheels or a true forged set from Stance.
For me it's not the fact that they are simply a lower trim, it's the fact that the lower trim wheels almost never look better than the top trim, or are smaller, or are inferior in design and construction, or all of the above. In GM's case, the SS 1LE wheels are the same size and forged like the ZL1 wheels, but IMO, they don't look as good. And in the OP's case, the SS 1LE copy wheels aren't forged and are of lower quality.

Sorry to bring back such an old thread, but I was looking for pictures of SS 1LE wheels on a ZL1 (non 1LE). Clearly from what I've seen more people prefer the look of the OEM SS 1LE wheels than the OEM ZL1 (non 1LE) wheels. Given that both wheels are the same size and are forged it really comes down to which people think look better on the car. I prefer the traditional 5 spoke design of the SS 1LE wheels over the ZL1 wheels. So if I was going to change the OEM wheels on a ZL1, I'd certainly look hard at a set of SS 1LE wheels.

Neither unless you're looking for an extra set for street or track.
