So, with the amount that I convinced myself to pay for this 2SS Vert, I was looking at the cheapest of the the cheap New Vettes just for sh!ts & giggles..

I reserved a 1SS vert back in Oct, for about 49K. I have purchased a 2SS Vert from out of town for about $57K (and it appears that most of the upgrades are in the interior, or, something an onlooker cant see while the car is parked or riding down the street).

Cheapest new Vettes are running about $63-$65, and I spec'd out a nice one for $64. And came across this ad:

Looks like a $30,000 MARKET ADJUSTMENT. Tell me this isn't so????

The issue for certain cars/trims is just the obvious supply/demand imbalance. I'm embarrassed that I paid over MSRP for the first time in my life to secure my 2022 ZLE, but it was, quite literally (I called what seems like every Chevrolet dealer in the US over the course of 2 weeks) the only 2022 6MT ZLE on the ground and available to buy in the country, so it is what it is.

Making it worse, it was so far away I had to buy it sight-unseen, and am still waiting for transport to pick it up and ship to me (bought it over 2 weeks ago).

Right. And you didn't have to do that of course... But you wanted it bad enough, that it was worth it to you.

Not everyone has that financial flexibility. Everyone has a line they will not cross. It's unfair to judge others just because they have the means to pay more and are willing to do it, is all I'm saying.

Me? I won't pay more than MSRP, and I didn't this time either. But I won't get on someone just because they decided to pay more.

That place is a joke. They wanted $9k in aftermarket crap you couldnt pass on, then $5k over sticker as an ADM on a 2022 ZL1.

Their sales managers were assholes and they were all about trying to screw your pants off. Remember they have a NASCAR raceteam to support as well as Rick's personal car buying insanity so they have to hit their customers with everything they can get.

I don't know about this part here, as that's practically what happens during a credit check (sure there's more to it, but they're judging your financial situation). One thing to keep in mind, what is MSRP today might not be what MSRP is for MY23. I think I have already read on this forum that MSRP is going up a bit, and let's face it if MSRP goes up, will that drive away a lot of people from buying a 2023, probably not.

It's up to the dealer, some dealers will mark up a factory order, you have to make sure you agree on selling price before you place a deposit.

If you put in a custom order, the final sale price should be negotiated prior to deposit being placed, signatures and all.

If you walk out of there wondering if they are going to tack on any kind of mark-up, you made a mistake. Just my opinion.
