Artic Weather, and your 6th Gen...

...I'm down in Austin area, it got pretty bad down here for Texas standards atleast. I went out to my daily beater (Toyota Prius) and couldn't even open the door. It was frozen shut. It took me a good 30 minutes to get all the ice off the windshield and the side windows. I was tempted to go in the garage and get my SS since it wouldnt require any prep but I didn't want to chance it.

Anyhow, after making my Prius drivable again, the roads are covered in blankets of ice and water.. ..and we also got a Thundersnow.. ..Anyone else in the country on the road enduring this with a 6th Gen?

I am, but LT1 so all seasons. Snow and ice mode has worked fine as have 2nd gear starts in sport mode. We also don’t get much snow, more ice really.

Lol, you have not lived until you enjoy a nice winter here in the Midwest!

Frozen doors and windows, ice so thick you can hardly scrap the windows clean, a foot of snow to shovel every few hours during bad storms, etc... Always fun! I don't feel bad for you guys in Texas or other normally warm/hot places year round! haha

I actually really like driving in winter, though. That being said to answer your question, I have a 2010 Mazda 3 beater that I use when it's snowy/icy to get where I need to go while the SS stays inside the garage. But when those roads are dry and all that, I of course take it out for a nice drive when I can. No real need to take it out since I have the other vehicle.

It's so bad in Chicago area that I threw my LT1 into a storage unit for a month until this ***show weather blows over.

2016 SS year round driver in all weather. DC doesn't get a ton of snow, but when we do, it's not that bad. Just drive smart. These cars can handle most weather if you are cautious.

Daily driving the LT1 with stock no-seasons. The stock rubber will be replaced with Blizzaks next fall! And a new set of 285/305's going on for the summer.

I don't drive in deep snow, i'll take the Subaru for that with winter tires. But yes there is a lot of snow on the ground, the roads are mostly dry so the LT1 is fine.

Nope, there is a reason that many of us in the north have our cars parked for the winter. I got up to -18 degrees for the work commute this morning. I cannot fathom how you are surviving the winter conditions in TX.

To help you get in your car if the doors are frozen shut. Keep a can of deicer in the house then just spray around the door. On the Camaro you gotta be extra careful spray a lot around the windows and be very very careful pulling it open so the window doesn’t break. I did it about 3 times so far since I got my car.

Yep just got home from this nasty crap. Got sideways 3 different times and was literally completely sideways in the middle of my street in front of my house. These Continentals have been great so far but snow/ice is definitely a no go.

The SS 1LE will stay tucked in the garage until the spring rains was all the salt off the roads.
The Buick and Silverado with studded Hakkapeliittas will be just fine until then. It’s nice to finally have one vehicle that will never see road salt. Not sure about other areas but they use salt brine here in VT and that eats up the vehicles more than the granular salt.
