Track pads for 1LE?

Front caliper on the SS 1LE is the same as the C7 Z06 - Iron disc

OEM Ferodo
Front - 25940447
Rear - 22847818
Revised Rear Part# 84732503

Raybestos ST-43
Front - RC1405
Rear - RC1718

Rear - PST1718

Carbotech part # is CT1405
XP8/10/12/20 readily available in this pad size

Hawk Part # is HB649(compound letter).605
Hawk makes practically every compound for this size

Hawk Compound letter codes are:
F - HPS, G - DTC-60, U - DTC-70, R - Street Race, N - HP+ (new compound)

So a front DTC-60 pad set would be HB649G.605

Rear brake is the standard SS Brembo.
Hawk says GM originally provided them with incorrect information about the rear pad size. The rear caliper on the SS is the rear caliper on the C7 'vette.
The web site database is being updated. The correct part number is the HB727, not the HB194.

Hawk part # is HB727(compound letter).592

OEM rotors (Front) MSRP for $674.

I ran Hawk HP+ on both my BRZ and 328i... they are fantastic. Full days at Laguna Seca were no issue.

I believe the front Brembo 6 piston setup is shared with the C7 Z06. The rears should be a normal 2016-2017 Camaro SS rear brake pad

The fronts are the J56 Z06 / GS base brakes (same as ATS-V) with the rears being regular SS size (and ATS-V). At 13.3" rear, they are smaller than the J56 14.4" ones. However, I have not looked at the PN's to see if any or all of the front 14.6" versions share the same pad.

Let us know what you find out...

I vote for Raybestos pads (either ST43 or ST47front/ST45 rear) no wonder many track junkies and racers call them "magic pads" .. both my friends and I have tried many different types of pads on different cars/setups but we all came back to Raybestos pads at the end ..they're the longest lasting pads with great initial bite and very good on rotors and operating temps also make them possible to use for street driving

Current year ATS-V? That would be great news. Lots of choices for that pad size.

I'll get on the phone with Hawk on Monday and let you know what I find out.

Any idea if the rear pads are the same size as they were on the gen5 rear Brembos? Obviously the fronts are different now.

I still have some Carbotech rears with plenty of life left from my 14 1LE that would be nice to keep using if possible.

Seems like swapping out the fluid for something like Motul RBF is a necessary mod for track as well.

I would think you would want something a bit more robust than an HPS+, those are basically street pads. While acceptable for something light, like a BRZ, I would guess they won't handle the heat much better than stock on a car like the 1LE.

Do we know for sure the brakes will fade as is? Highly dependent on the driver as well.

I used Carbotech XP 10/12 on my 14 1LE and I had mixed thoughts about them. Then again, the car is so heavy that it may have been more than the pads. I am hoping the larger front calipers and the slightly lighter platform will help dramatically, because the brakes were a real weak point on the gen5 1LE.

I was happy with both Endless and Pagid pads on my M3, but boy were they pricey... around $750 for all four corners. Yikes

I am a big Carbotech fan.....BUT they have to be bedded properly. If your rotors are not glowing orange when you put it to bed for the night, you did not do it right.................and don't cheap out on the fluid, SRF or don't bother, ALL the others will boil eventually.

Yeah, I had trouble with uneven pad deposits with them. I would get brake shudder pretty bad sometimes and figured it must have been due to the bedding process.

problem with the Carbotech pads ,imo, is the longevity .They didn't last more than 3-4 events also the initial bite is not as good as the Raybestos . That being said, some people prefer the oem-like feel of the XP12 (or XP10s ) and claim they can better modulate the brakes because of that. In my case, I think more is always better when it comes to stopping power and brake fading never becomes an issue with more robust pads. It is really important to match the pads with the tires also, when I had my C6 GS I mismatched the pads (ST43s with the PSS tires) . Ice mode becomes an issue immediately

Spoke with Carbotech today.

The Front pad is the same as the C7 Z06 (iron disc).

That means CT1405 works. XP8/10/12/20 available. Carbotech does not recommend the XP20 for our car on street tires. The pad will out-brake the tire.

I am still waiting to hear about Hawk. But I know they have basically every compound option for the C7 Z06.

I prefer Hawk, so right now the plan is DTC-60 for track, DTC-30 for AutoX and HPS for street.

BTW - The dealership parts department couldn't even find a part# for OEM pads.

First set lasted 4 days.....2nd set almost the rest of the year. Difference: bedding them properly. It is hard on you, the car, the police, the neighbors etc. but boy is it worth it.
