Looking to Get a Catch Can
Been researching on the forums and see a lot of different choices in terms of catch cans everyone gets. Originally I was going to go with the ADd W1 can. But then after researching some I came across The Elite as well as the Mighty Mouse. Currently I’m stock but I do plan on having a S/C later this year. So what can option did you guys go with and why, also how’s your experience been with what you choose?

I've always used the JLT ones. Relatively inexpensive, easy to open/empty, and they seem to catch alot of oil. Had 2 on a S/C'd mustang before my 1LE so just stuck with JLT. Never had anything in the passenger side one on the Roush mustang but it was worth the piece of mind.

Have a look at UPR's 4 stage passenger can. They also do two hose into 1 can.

Always fine it odd to see JLT and UPR stuff for Chevy's. I did buy a UPR single pin alternator LS1 harness for my old Fbody. Kind of an odd part for UPR to make as one of the few GM car parts they made. Always been happy with parts from both companies. JLT intakes work great. Have one on my Lightning, and oddly enough I agree I would look at both their catch cans for the GEN6 Camaros.

What is it that makes the Elites worth the 3-400 they are vs the others that are 150-250?

Ultrakd,
Several things. First, lets go through what Elite Engineering offers: Our lowest priced can for years was one of the best solutions available for the old port injection engines. It is a good design and is still a good choice for the price for a NA mildly built port injection engine. Then we have our E2 series that allows for full time evacuation and far more effective design for modified and forced induction port injection engines. This can be purchased with the optional CSS and checkvalves for a very robust system more effective than most any competitors. Now enter our E2000 and E2-X series. As GDI engines cannot tolerate most any oil ingestion, the most effective design on the market period with the patented design is 95% plus effective VS the best offerings from ANY other design comes in at less than 50% effective in stopping the oil and other substances that you don't want to be part of the intake air charge. It is available in the standard size or the Ultra size that is nearly twice the capacity. The E2-X configured as a dual valve system provides full time flushing and evacuation so pressure can never build to begin with. Far better than allowing pressure to build and vent. This full time evacuation aids in piston ring stability and seal, reduces parasitic power loss from the pistons fighting any pressure on each down stroke. As this provides full time flushing and evacuation, most combustion byproducts are removed from the crankcase before they can settle and contaminate the engine oil. This greatly reduces wear over time as this oil analysis shows at over 13k miles on a twin turbo GDI engine. Note the lab techs comments. Unlike some others, we DO maintain a closed emissions compliant system so no fumes vented into the atmosphere. No other design comes close, and we stand behind that claim with the "Catchcan Challenge" where we challenge any other can design to be tested for effectiveness: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=512223 . So, if your goal is to stop all possible oil ingestion, there is no other choice. If you want the benefit of less wear and longer engine life, reduced knock retard, and more with the absolute most effective design on the market, this is it. Questions? Just ask. And yes, we stand behind our challenge. |
