Front Bumper Damage
Hi All, Ran my Camaro through winter and once spring hit I found my front bumper had hundreds of very small imperfections the surface is no longer smooth to the touch. I suspect this is from all the sand and salt they dump on the road and it blasted my front end. I was wondering if its possible to repair this damage without doing a full repaint of the front bumper.

I’m not detail specialist, but for starters, a ‘clay bar’ should work wonders. Soapy water, and a clay bar.
This topic also might get moved to the ‘Detail Section’ due to the nature of your question.

A paint correction using an orbital buffer along with the correct compounds and pads can make a huge difference.

Or.. do the Canadian thing... have a beater for winter, and keep the nice car garaged for 9 months. If you physically or financially can only have one car, then lease a Subaru (in jest).
You can drive what you want, but IMHO, i just I don't see the point if having a Camaro as your only car when you live in a world of pot holes, salt, and gravel for 9 months out of the year, and road construction the other 3 months. However, I think it makes you the biggest Camaro fan in the world, so you have my respect. Ps. I lived in Canada 32 years before I made my escape, so you also have my sympathies.

Thanks Guys, This weekend I will do a full wash, clay-bar, Ironx and polish/buff of the entire car. I don't think I can fix everything on the front bumper so I'll get it to a professional and see if they can fix it then I'll apply a PPF to the front to prevent this in the future....

Ah... welcome to Canada.
I am trying to avoid highways as much as possible. Only if the road trip is like 3 hours on the HW and 5 on side roads, then I might take the HW but stay veeery far from any car, especially trucks. They trashed my Mazda so much that it's easier to just replace it. Cracked windshield, chips everywhere, flying objects and rocks, dust "storm" when I pass by a truck... And I already have chips on my Camaro. 400 series highways FTW... |
