P0121 Code - Help

Hey everyone,
Just installed a Soler Performance TB and a RotoFab standard oil filter CAI for the ZL1. Followed the install procedure. Had the battery off for 6+ hours. Installed everything this morning, got battery back up, did the revs, P, N, D switching. Took it on the road and got it above 44mph like the instruction states. Went for 5-7 miles and came back to let it cool and go back out again. Hopped in, started it up, looked down on the freeway doing 61 ok cruise control and saw the Check Engine Light. Pulled the code and it’s a P0121 for throttle response and pedal positioning I think?

Reeeeally not wanting to return to stock. Is this normal? Does it go away after the end of the relearning period? Should I disconnect the battery and try again?

Thanks for all the help and ideas.

I got this code from both the Soler TB and the Tony Mamo TB.

For both, I got it when I did not disconnect the battery cable when switching TBs.

In my Z06 w/ the Tony Mamo TB, it the code kept coming back.
For my ZL1 the code went away after clearing the code with a scan tool.

I'd recommend:
1. Clear it and see if it comes back again.
2. Pull the battery cable over night again.

Sounds good!! Thank you for the tip! I’m glad I’m not the only one.

Any issue driving this in the meantime? If I pull battery overnight do I need to re so the learn phase again? That’s a pita.

P0121, is the ECM interpreting the extra airflow as a bad throttle position sensor. Usually, the throttle position sensor is not bad at all. Therefore, it is a false alarm and it won't hurt your car.

B/c we take these TB's to about the limit they can perform with the stock calibration, the code might be intermittent. That indicates that it just needs a few percents points less air to bring it to the permanent no-code side. A few cars will show up this code and they require custom modification to the throttle body which we provide at no extra cost.
