No love for the LT V6?
I realize everyone here is a die-hard speed or track fan, with either an SS or 1LE, but I don't ever see any threads from the 1LT, 2LT, or 3LT crowd. I realize everyone scoffs at the V6, but I'm honestly surprised they there is no discussion at all on the 6cyl xLT models. I love mine, with Adrenaline Red interior and all the amenities.
Just curious: what is the breakdown in sales by model/trim? Am I just an outlier and nobody buys the 3LT? Thanks Last edited by Anjilslaire; 02-06-2022 at 11:39 PM. |

I had a 2018 RS V6, and loved it for a daily driver. Actually surprised a few people considering it was just a V6

I'm renting a V6 while my SS is in the shop and it is quite a quick, zippy and nimble little car. I enjoy driving it and it reminds me of my 2017 V6 I had before my SS. Great car... It's just our cars are heavily catered toward enthusiasts and not people who are looking for a reliable, efficient ride to and from work which the V6 caters more toward in both an economical and practically perspective with a bit of sporty flare... ...because we are enthusiasts, we tend to look at things in a performance per dollar perspective which the V6 does hit hard at, but will reach its ceiling much sooner than its V8 counter parts, especially without forced induction.. ..that and the aftermarket for modding is just much stronger for the LT platform motors because they produce very respectable numbers for relatively moderate investment.

Trading in my LT tomorrow
Have a 2017 1LT V6 and enjoyed the heck out of it since I bought it in 2018. Has a Borla exhaust and CAI and it does surprise alot of people with the power it has. But i'm trading her in tomorrow and picking up a 2017 2SS 6-speed and I can't wait to get in it LOL. Already bought the splitter, side rails, smoked tail lights, red interior mods and a bunch of other stuff. Ordering red fuel rail covers for it and some other stuff. I'll be posting pics as I put it together.

I test drove a V6 Camaro a few summers ago and really enjoyed it. The engine was strong and sounded great. I might have ended up in a V6 if it weren't for the good lease deals on the LT1 in late 2020.

I wanted a toy and don't commute much any more, so an LT1 is in my future. But if I still had my long commute, the V6 and 10 spd auto would be my choice. The savings on gas are huge, 87 octane is much cheaper, and it's still decent. I test drove the 2.0T and didn't like the turbo lag. The V6 is a solid choice.

There's nothing at all wrong or bad about the V6. I had a convertible in 2020 when we took a trip (rental) and enjoyed driving it.
If I had to guess why there isn't a lot of discussion about the 4 or 6 cylinder motors on here, it would be because the folks that are members here more commonly own one of the V8 versions of the car. |

For the OP, the 6 is fine. Being an enthusiast-centric demographic on the boards, you're going to see a lot leaning towards the 8's. There is, however, a passionate V6 enthusiast segment. Personally, I'd love to have an LT 1LE for a daily.

No love here unless it's a twin turbo like the Caddy Ats-v which is what I almost bought before I purchased an Lt1 again.

Says the guy with just a 1SS.
I think the v6 sounds great with the NPP, and was looking at either a t4 or v6 with 1le package.

The 335hp V6 is a great Camaro choice for spirited and balanced everyday driving. There are many that appreciate that configuration. They're just not on this board.
HP preference is sometimes based on how much is useful in one's daily public street driving, without causing problems for the driver or others. Last edited by LT1gen6; 02-07-2022 at 09:58 AM. |
