Camaro SS VS Toyota Supra 3.0 Turbo?
How does the 6th gen Camaro SS compares in performance VS the new Toyota Supra 3.0 V6T?

At Laguna last summer, there was no problem driving away from one. The owner came to talk with us, and couldn't understand how we were doing that, because "he had a down-pipe (whatever that is) and over 500 HP. and expected to just drive around us.

According to MotorTrend's test results, they perform nearly identically in tests (assuming its the more powerful, more buttoned down '21+ Supra). The SS went 12.4 @ 115.8 mph (A10) and the '21 Supra 3.0 went 12.3 @ 115.8 mph. Same 1/4 mile trap speed (115.8 mph) and similar time for the SS. 0-60 is also only a tenth off.
The 2020 Supra is less powerful so its not as quick as 21+. They also have the exact same lateral grip in MT's tests: 1.0 g. They are within 4 ft of each other in stopping 60-0 as well. And the Supra is $11k more expensive, as tested. At Car and Driver's lightning lap an SS 1LE went 2:54.8 and the Supra went 2:59.3. I'd imagine the regular SS is right around that 2:59 time as well, though they haven't tested it.

Yeah…
Just to address the statements Supra has an in-line 6. Not a V6. Also, the Supra owner was saying he has a catless downpipe which removes exhaust restrictions. That plus a tune might take him to 500hp at the crank. In essence, more power and lighter than the Camaro. Although I’m glad I chose the SS over the Supra, I respect their power especially their potential for much more with just a few bolt ons. |

If you want to see what the Supra is capable of with a few mods, check out Jackie Ding’s TT car.

I would not call the supra ugly,it does have some Japanese weirdness to it's look, not to mention it's German. It looks to very tight on interior room. I'll take the Camaro also.

a manual trans supra would be a tempting purchase. it kinda sucks that gm did nothing for the camaro power wise since its release in 2016. these engines are relatively easy to get power out of.

Toyota Supra is a BMW but supposedly with Toyota reliability. And they are fast. The B58 in-line 6 is no joke and can support 1000hp on the stock engine and internals.
And for 2023 the car will be available with a manual. And if you have ever driven a BMW with manual, you know how smooth their manuals are. Now being that the B58 is a turbo charged engine, it does have a bit of a different feel versus the V8 Camaro. They are both great cars and I don't think you can go wrong with either. |

No doubt. I always tell people one reason I purchased my 1LE is that it's 95% of the performance of the C8 for half the money.

I just bought a new '22 GR Supra 3.0 today in turbulence gray. It is in transit; should be here hopefully in a week or two. Technically, it'll be my wife's sports car and sit in the garage alongside my ZL1. I'll drive the Supra when she isn't and I feel like changing it up from the ZL1 -- I told her she gets first right of refusal as it is mainly her car.
According to that video above it is practically identical in acceleration to an LT1/SS but slightly quicker since it won all 4 races, so it should be a really fun car considering it's only 3,300ish lbs. I'm pretty stoked!

I was considering the supra. Price wise it was identical to my 22 2ss 1le. However, i needed a manual with a back seat to haul my kids. On a straight line they are no joke but still doesn’t handle as good as the camaro, especially a 1le or zl1. A hard top convertible version would have been sick though.
