In two years, mine has never been through an auto wash. Always wash by hand.

C8 I would show this to a dealer and have them fix it. There is no way GM designed the back of the car to leak this much water into the engine bay.

It's working exactly as designed, there are open mesh vents and the bottom of the windows is completely open as well, which is where most of the water is coming in here. I'm curious where the drips close to the camera are coming from, but it still isn't a ton of water and could just be where water is designed to drain to.

Anyone surprised by this has never opened their engine bay after driving in the rain. Engine bays not water tight at all.

if you have the money to buy a C8 you probably can afford to hire a couple of hot nekked women to wash it...just sayin.

Why? Hand washing your car involves physically making contact with the car with a sponge or cloth that despite whatever best efforts are made, inevitably will result in some dirt trapped between the cloth and the painted surface and risks scratching the surface. Even the fabric of the cloth itself will eventually wear on the paint. And then you have the process of hand drying the car, which again involves making physical contact with the car. How is that better than running the car through a touchless wash with a blow dry, where I will state yet again, there is zero contact made with the car by anything other than soap and water? I'm getting the impression that people are stuck on this mindset that automated washes have not evolved over time. They do not all use giant, flappy brushes that beat the hell out of your car while it's being dragged along a track.

Now, there will be situations where dirt and grime on the car will unavoidably require removal by some mechanical means like a cloth with soapy water, and hand washing makes perfect sense it those cases. But it seems to me that you would want to take that approach as infrequently as possible.

Must be a Corvette issue? No H2O in the engine bay of my 22 Camaro when going through the touchless.

Something's not right here. I agree that, although I wouldn't take it through a wash, surely it's not designed to be bathed in soap/water.

Six years for me - just turned 30,000 miles since it was new in December 2015. My experience is that those touchless ones still leave a layer of dirt - plainly visible on my white car. Yea, there may be the rare one that can get the perfect soap mixture, but I haven't found it yet. And I don't need to be a rocket scientist to know that a hand wash is better for my paint than multiple high speed spinning brushes - lesser of two evils there.

Even on road trips, I hand wash it at the hotels with spray wash and hotel towels. Lubing it up with some Zaino right before the trip helps it clean easier. And there is usually a hose around at most non-downtown type hotels if you look. I wouldn't be against a touchless wash while on the road just to get the grime off, but I haven't had to yet.

I always use touchless car washes, they even have a dryer
They work well if car isn’t too dirty.
Hand washing makes my back hurt and leaves swirls.
There Does seem to be a lot of water in that engine bay. Maybe it has to do with an unnatural angle?

I'm quite sure a little car-wash won't hurt the car. Check this out.

Water intruding into the engine is a problem. Water intruding into the engine bay is not a problem.
I've done plenty of under hood cleanings on various cars with degreaser, brushes, and a hose. They are designed to put up with some water, as long as you're not whaling on the electrical connectors with a pressure washer or something.

I just wash my cars at home with a foam cannon and a pressure washer. If they are too dirty, I use a wash mitt with a dirt trap in the bucket. I have foamed, brushed and rinsed my 6th gen under the hood with no issue too. Be smart about it, and you won't have issues.

Its all part of the design. The engine is also watercooled for better efficiency and performance

Take it back to the dealer and tell them the bonnet seals failed and it leaks.
