On the good side, it looks like 2SS cars are going to start rolling in quantity soon. 58 of them on the last posting. I would imagine if you ordered one, it would get picked up pretty quickly as long as you steered away from the other constraints on your order.

Yesterday when I was at the dealer putting in my order for a 23 1SS 1LE. They told me that the Recaros are on constraint right now and I can opt to have the standard seats installed for a faster build.

You'll probably regret that if you buy a 1LE and use it as intended.

Will they swap them out for the Recaros at no cost when they become available again?

Oh I am waiting for the recaros. I don’t want the standard seats

Other thread someone let me know the recaro constraint is for all but the ZL1 and 1LE packages. So if someone just added them to their build and not a ZL1 or 1LE it shouldn’t be a constraint

lol what? You can not get a 1LE WITHOUT Recaro seats. GM will not build a 1LE equipped car without Recaro seats. Your dealer is mistaken.

Recaro seats are constrained for NON-1LE or NON-ZL1 Camaros ONLY. They are reserving Recaros for 1LE and ZL1 at this time. So, if your dealer has an allocation and can order a 1SS, it will be available with Recaros.

Well looks like I may as well get comfortable, as it’s going to be a while. Had to order a 23, but it’s a non-1LE with Recaros and a V6, so who knows when it will get picked up.

Has anyone ever found a way to order a set of OEM recaros, assuming $$ is no object?

The part numbers for the seats appear to be

84609480 - driver
84609492 - passenger

Both are listed as “discontinued” on GMPartsDirect, but I doubt that’s true; probably not currently available for sale though considering they’re on constraint.

Get them used - car-part.com - the boneyard search works pretty well. I wouldn't buy sight unseen, though, I would try to find some that you could physically go see before buying. Then you would have to get your car reflashed at the dealer to get the heat and AC to work, or get the gen5diy harness.

Am I the only one who doesn't like the recaro seats? Anything short of track use they are super super awkward for longer drives.

Many owners say they break in over time and become somewhat more comfortable. They probably work better for slimmer body types in general.

I definitely fit into the category of 'longer driver' (6'7") and I'm not a fan. I feel like I'm sitting ON the thigh bolsters and not between them. I've not found that they break in or get better over time. The bolsters are supported by metal rods bent in a hoop, so there's only so far that the padding can compress before you're up against solid metal. I ended up taking the drivers side sear out, pulling the lower cushion up and bending the hoops out. That helped somewhat, but I wish the hoops had been welded on further to the sides in the first place.

I’m kind of a small guy at 145lbs and 5’7”, and for me they’ve been great, definitely surpassed my expectations! I drove the car 1800 miles and 28 hours (over 3 days) after picking it up out of state, and at no time was I physically feeling beat, I was quite surprised especially that it’s a ZL1 1LE.

But yeah we’re all built differently
