It may affect those who drive with their knees 90 degrees bent, and up close to the wheel like grandma, and it surely will not affect those who drive with the seat all the way back, gangsta style, driving position like Tupac even.

I'm 6 four height, my knee is far away from that ignition key, I'll be keeping mine.

Nonetheless, makes me wish I had keyless start button......hmmmm, time for a mid summer mod I think, hello DIY procedure.

Dear Johnathan from Chevrolet Customer Service;
This issue has occurred to me on three separate occasions and I have mentioned it to my service rep. I had wondered why a push button start had not been incorporated as in my other vehicle.

Nevertheless, the GM "Solution" is UNACCEPTABLE and will hopefully not be the "final solution". Please reply. This is a substandard replacement and not in line with the styling of the vehicle. As you have seen from this thread, there will be a negative response from many current owners. Please reconsider this solution and come up with a key that resembles the current key in quality and cost.

Thank you for your attention. A prompt reply will be appreciated.

Great, so it's almost a guarantee we'll get a crappy solution.

I am scratching my head on this one. This recall must be for folks 7 foot tall. I am 5' 10" and I can't physically get my knee even close to the ignition.

I thought so to however the way it appears written, if a manufaturer notifies the NHTSA of a voluntary recall it has to fix the issue before it can allow cars to be delivered per 49 U.S. Code § 30120(i)(1)(a).

(A) the defect or noncompliance is remedied as required by this section before delivery under the sale or lease; or
(B) when the notification is required by an order under section 30118 (b) of this title, enforcement of the order is restrained or the order is set aside in a civil action to which section 30121 (d) of this title applies.
(2) This subsection does not prohibit a dealer from offering for sale or lease the vehicle or equipment.

And then 30118 (c) is where the manufacturer initiates the recall.
