You can also when claying for surface lube and such, a spray bottle with water and a very heavy shot of Dawn dish soap, works really well without buying some $15 bottle of premade clay lube.

Keep dawn away from cars. It will dry out seals, rubber and trims, plus if not fully rinsed properly and can lead to some white streaking if it dries that take a little more effort to get off.
A bottle of ONR cost $17 for 32oz and you can make gallons of clay lube from it and its superior to using Dawn

Problems like that are operator error and not the product, it's been good for decades.

I've read not to use clay bars on new vehicles for rail dust etc. as it can break them off versus removing the embedded particles.

Iron-X is great stuff and works WELL. I would wash it and then hit it with Iron-X and watch everything turn purple. Rinse well and wash again. Beyond that, there's a hundred options.

Do they use it to lube you up before you buy it?? that's pricey.

There are plenty of car washes available my the gallon that will work to lube the clay bar for half that.

And I am surprised everybody says clay bar but nobody knows what an overspray/ fallout mitt is.

hmm $17 that can make 15.5gallons of clay lube is pretty cheap to me. But then I actually use proper stuff to take care of my cars. You guys use the incorrect stuff and do what you want to do.
I have been doing this as an enthusiast hobby for the past 17years. So I will stick to what is the proper way to do things.

As long as the finish looks great, then no worries. My wife's 2019 Lexus still looks like the day that we bought it.

I'm glad it worked out for you. Surprisingly easy process.

Weird how different the first an second pages of this thread turned out, started out useful at least haha.
