Are the 2017-2018 oil pump failures only (or mostly) happing on the ZL1's or does it happen on the 2017-2018 SS 1LE's also?

some reports of SS models, but the vast majority are ZL1s. so its not impossible on an SS but much less likely.

Which is very interesting - could this be related to ZL1 owners running higher viscosity oil?

I know this is a really late response, but superchargers tend to require stronger oil pump gears. Mustang guys have been fighting it for years, and the boosted applications are the ones who need them the most. The other thing that seems to be linked to it is commonly bouncing off the limiter. Racers or aggressive drivers are smart to upgrade as well.
