Exactly! Years ago I would spend a whole day or longer waxing by hand and by machine, just to last a short period of time.

If you're looking for something inexpensive and long lasting I would recommend Meguiar's ultimate synthetic polymer liquid wax. I started using it on all my cars and it holds up even to an entire winter of snow and salt. It is really easy to apply compared to carnauba. For my daily drivers I use it alone after a polish. On my Camaro I top off the polymer with Collinite 845 for an extra pop.

Yes, a good polish is what is going to give you that mirror finish.

I use Blackfire Total Polish and Seal then put Blackfire Wet Diamond on top. People always stare at it when it’s clean (damn black is hard to keep clean though).

Thanks! Looks like we have the same exact car
I love the Mosaic Black but it sure is a pain in the ass to keep clean.

Just bought a 2019 Camaro SS in Riverside Blue. First thing I did was wash it with Clean Slate from Chemical guys to remove any wax or sealants or whatever they put on the vehicle. Dried it all up and polished a couple scuffs that unfortunately were near the rear diffuser and side skirts ;( then I applied a glaze called Blacklight to fill in any tiny micro swirls (which were minimal on this car, it had just gotten off the truck when I went to go see it) and to enhance the color slightly. Then I applied Jet Seal paint sealant to seal all the color enhancements and swirl filling into the paint. Topped it off with Cherry Wet Wax and let it cure for 24 hours before exposing it to the elements. Got it insured in the meantime and drove the crap out of it as soon as I could. (:

I've been using 3DHD Cut and Polish for the last couple of years. I bought my car unprepped by the dealer. Fully polished it out and coated it with Optimum Gloss Coat. For me, it's lasted 2 years with next to no maintenance. My car is garaged but I don't have time to wash it that often. That's exactly the reason that I chose to coat the car and it's worked out really well for me so far.
I am redoing the coating in a few weeks with 22ple HPC, which is known to be far more long lasting and also easy to apply. I also ordered Griots Cut and Polish compound since I am starting to run a little low on the 3DHD products and I like having more options on the shelf. I think if I had the time and energy to seal or wax my car constantly I might consider going back to my old products but for me --- Coatings are a game changer. Car looks much cleaner day to day and cleans up much easier. Since I am hand washing less often it means I am touching the paint less, which means that I am marring it less, which means I am polishing it less often. Are coatings the end all be all of shine and depth? Don't know honestly. Not enough experience. I think it has more to do with prep and polish skills than the coating or sealant. |

Clay if needed. Meguires 205 to polish and Rejex to protect. Repeat every 5 months
