K&N Performance Intake Kit now Available

Not sure if this is old news or not, but I just got notified of the availability this morning.

http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?prod=63-3094

Seems to not require a tune.

thats awsome. much cheaper and better HP increase but weird dyno graph. Seems very low but they are only using 2nd gear. Most placed use 5th but run into speed limiter. 4th gear seems most optimal but still very low numbers all in all considering I got 269 stock.

Great post. I was waiting for this. First of all if the 21hp increase is legit than that's crazy. Second only 197 ft lb??? That's so low. I wonder if anyone knows what's wrong with that.

It's really hard to dyno the V6 in the correct gear without having the car tuned to remove the speed limiter. A limit that's dangerous to exceed on a dyno on stock tires since they would not be rated to go much faster than the limiter and could explode on the dyno. Probably just not common to come across those necessary changes on a V6 around them. So they tested in a lower gear which impacts the results.

So what about the 21hp increase? Is that legit?

i didn't get it dynod on my car. You're gonna find just as many people who trust a company's numbers as you will who give you any number of reasons why you shouldn't.

Since it seems essentially the same as the GM intake, i'd assume you'd get the same perf as that more or less. Though minus that re-cal tune (which nobody really knows the details of).

Glad this doesn't require a tune and it's $200 dollars cheaper.

Takes 20mins to remove but I've never heard of dealers voiding warranty because of an intake. Especially from an experienced company like K&N. I had their filter on my mazdaspeed3 for years and took it in to the dealer many times and for repairs and they never even questioned me once.

21 HP max gain at 5900 RPM, looks like peak gain is no more than 10HP, maybe even less.
