AWhen I was 15 I got a job at a mobile service station, pumping gas,oil changes, grease jobs. I've always change my oil ,58 now.Anybody remember chrome looking metal cans of mobile1 synthetic? Bought a new RS v6 manual January 1.I will be changing oil for first time this weekend,3800 miles olm about 50 percent.I like for oil to be hot- very warm when draining. Will be using super tech full synthetic.

The reason I asked which motor is I would consider the V6 and V8 versions to be HO and would do the first change at 500 miles then 1500 again. If the car is a 4 cyl I would think that 1500 and again at 3000 would be okay. I do believe in over doing it when it comes to oil changes, Im at 4400 miles and just did my 6th change. Kinda a therapy to work on my cars in a way.

Wait you mean oil from Walmart? Heresy! You must only use oil that was poured and scraped off of blonde virgins!

Personally, I would think with the I4 being a Turbo I would treat it as I would the V8 version.

That said, I did my first oil change at 1500 for my V8, haven't done the second yet.

You could be right, My owners manual doesn't have the 4cyl listed. I guess everything today is considered high horsepower compared to my 80's Corvette years. Id bet a turbo 4cly would make a 80's Vette look stupid.

Len125...yes, if not lifted correctly will damage the car. But even dealers have lifted these 6th gens incorrectly...just look thru posts on the forum here. Get a ZL1 add-on lift pad kit for peace of mind, just remember to tell whoever lifts your car about them. As for the dealers not wanting to do the oil change...meh Mine is performance oriented and had no problem doing my first one early.

I'll have to admit oil poured over a female blonde virgin sounds very desirable.

Had my first oil change done at 1500 miles, and the dealer did it without any questions whatsoever. I find it really odd that a dealership would not change it with early miles. Never experienced this ever in my entire life.

There are ZERO restrictions put on the free service visits, yet I've read about various GM dealerships telling customers no because they apparently believe that they won't be reimbursed for it. The key is simply to ask them why they won't do it and then ask if they have any documentation to back it up because there was no limitation that you were able to find...

When that fails, you ask to discuss with the Service Manager and then move on to the General Manager.

You should be able to change the oil whenever you want- although 500-1000 miles is a bit too soon in my opinion. I would wait until at least 1500 miles or preferably 2000 or 2500 miles. Then they should not have an issue changing it. I did my Silverado truck at 2700 miles at the dealership as the first one was free.

If you really want to change it sooner, it is so easy to do yourself. You just need jacks, jack stands, oil change pan and a few basic tools. Read the posts, watch videos.

Where in Maryland are you? I work at a shop and can change it for you if you are close.

len125, sounds like you don't plan to beat on the car before the first oil change regardless of when it's done. I would not stress about waiting until 3000 or 5000 miles.
Now a lot of members here subscribe to the "better safe than sorry" philosophy and will say I'm a lunatic for not changing fluids more often. They are correct, because that's what they believe.

len I live in a state close to yours. I will change your oil for you if you still need help. I have ramps, torque wrench, oil filter cap wrench. The works. Just bring your fluid, filter, and some stories. Send me a DM if you like.
