Check my comment #25 on page 1 of this thread, I'd definitely get it done. I don't know your current mileage, but the probability of experiencing the shudder without the new fluid is very high.

Previous owner had the torque convertor changed but didn't get the new fluid. When I got the camaro I got the new fluid but problem came back after 3,000 miles, didn't take notice of the hard shifts until after I learned more about the issues the A8. Now I'm trying to get the second fluid and a new TQ so I'm brining that into service along with the warm start issue

It should be covered if it's still under the powertrain warranty.

I purchased my '16 2SS, 27K miles, used from a Cadillac dealer 20 miles away in early 2018. I got a warrantee history report from them that showed no transmission or TC work. I have not ever had any issues with it. Had it modded and tuned in 2019 (see sig). After the latest Mobile1 fluid came out, I decided to just do it and intended to pay for it. Went to a Cadillac dealer just down to road and they did it under warrantee even tho my car is obviously modified and tuned. Guess it just takes the right dealer.

If I catch any flack from the Chevy dealer I will try a GM dealer of another brand myself.

I am taking mine to a Caddy dealer Thursday, they are much more professional on the phone than the local Chevy dealer. (Chevy basically said if I leave if for 2 months they can look at it, they are backed up with transmission work) Don't want to go back to the dealer where I bought it used, as it is almost an hour away.

Will update when appropriate.

UPDATE: (in case anyone cares)

(I got all my info on what had already been done to my car from CarFax)

Went to the Cadillac dealer, lo and behold...it has ALREADY had the proper fluid change, and CarFax didn't have it recorded....

So, I guess I am good to go, only issue is the harsh shift when cold, but not sure that has a fix for it.

Good luck to everyone else!

I'd recommend to anyone with the automatic from 2016 to 2019 to get post-q1-2019 (blue label m1) trans fluid put in and the old flushed out whether you've had the shudder or not. The object is to do it before symptoms since you're on borrowed time for perm damage once they do become noticeable and literally _all_ transmissions are susceptible to the issue ..with the only variables that dictate if you are a victim of it being the environment (humidity) and driving habits.

This should have been a voluntary recall for all such vehicles but they'd rather roll the dice and only be on the hook for those that trigger the issue within warranty periods.

As an owner, you would do yourself a favor to just preemptively get the new fluid.

100% agree.

That is why even though I was not having a shudder issue, I wanted the new fluid. Too bad CarFax wasn't accurate.

Nice poll OP. The results are reassuring. I had it once at around 20k miles. Got the new Mobil 1 flush and going alright for over 4k miles. Hopefully it won't come back. I was wary of voting for 'Problem fixed with Mobil 1 flush'. Only time will tell..
