Post FUEL PRICE WATCH: DAILY LINK

For those of you, specifically outside of Ontario, and Ontarians who do not know, we have a Member of Parliament who has a website whereby he posts the fuel prices for the next day. Member of Parliament Dan Mcteague.

At the end of each trading day he checks the oil prices, does some calculations, and then posts the gas prices for the next day, and does this each day by 5PM eastern time. Even though he represents Ontario, his site shows prices across Canada. It's a great site to have and be able to plan ahead as to when to fuel up.

Here is the link to his website, just scroll down to the end of the page and click the link "click here to view tomorrow's gas prices".

I have the site on my BlackBerry. I hit refresh each day when I leave the office so I can make the "buy or wait" decision. As much as I hate to admit it (given the party he supports) he's seldom wrong on his pricing and when he is it's by a couple tenths of a cent!

I actually saw him on some local call in program, and he was asked how he comes up with the prices. He said he gets the oil price for the day, then inputs that into this program, that he had to buy, along with the oil companies, and uses the formulas, and comes up with the fuel price. Any discrepancies are attributed to area competions, he says.

Here in Woodstock the cheapest place is always at the MAc's Milk right near my house. I hate that place with a passion as everyone knows this so its a total nightmare getting in and out of that place its a zoo there. Now with this yellow camaro something that would take me 5 minute would take up to half and hour+ with the questions i am asked so i dont go there anymore. I go to the second cheapest i can go about my business in 5 minutes.

We have that in Toronto too, but you have to rely on other people to post the prices. I used to use that, until I realized by the time I found out the prices it was too late, especially if they went up overnight. Good link though as far as the address goes.

The advantage of McTeague's site is he posts each day around 5pm, 6 whole hours BEFORE the price change at midnight. It's kinda like NB (all the Maritimes?) where tomorrow's gas price must be published prior to the change (provincial law) except prices out there are only allowed to change 1 per week -Thursdays I think right guys?
