ZLE with slicks

Anyone use slicks on the road courses? Wondering what your experiences were and if you had any issues with axles or anything breaking. Thanks!

Don't know of many issues like that, if you don't get the right sizes then it could screw with ABS at the limit. You will likely go through wheel liners pretty quickly too

Unlikely, the 3R tires have nearly the same grip as slicks.

abosoxfan4life, I run p-zero takeoffs in those exact sizes my car is definitely faster
with slicks. 3-4 seconds on a 1:54 lap. some people will argue this but for me
personally that's my experience I also like the feel of slicks better. Just make sure
to start with low pressure, I start about 24lbs and end up about 34 hot

That's an interesting data point. My p-zero takeoffs on a SS 1LE are roughly 2 seconds faster over the SC3(Not R) over 1:40 laptime. But my experience is limited so far with used slicks, I've only used them during 1 track day so far and haven't tried different sets. Not sure how off the pace mine were from a new set.

I bought a set of 18s to run scrubs, the issue is getting scrubs that are know to be good. I don't do that many days, but when I do, I need them to be good to go. I've seen 50% of the people that scrubs, have their days ruined by subpar tires.

Yeah, I just have a hard time believing that used slicks can be 4 seconds faster than the SC3R, which is already at least 2-3 seconds faster than the SC3. that would put used slicks about 7 seconds faster than the SC3 and new ones 8-9s faster? It doesn't seem realistic.

My testing has the 3Rs about 2 seconds quicker and I think slicks will be 1.5-2.0 quicker than 3R. I'm going to try one Hoosiers as my "slicks" hopefully next month.

Think about the price difference. We can get 18" Michelin used slicks for a fraction of the cost of new SC3R.

For sure the scrubs are cheaper.....but you don't know what you're getting. I paid 1416 delivered for my last set of 3Rs and I think scrubs are about 900 shipped, last I looked. For the extra money, I'd rather know what I was getting.

Yeah but you won't find any used tires in that size. you will have to buy new.
