I was lucky... it was hard to find a coupe ZL1 when I got the bug Dec 2022. I found my 2023 ZL1 at a dealer in the boonies, and I was lucky to pay MSRP. Other dealers all around me in Columbus, OH were adding a $5,000+ fee for "Camaro low availability". I lucked out, but it seems to be common practice that a gouge fee is added.

Elco Chevrolet in St. Louis always sells at MSRP for ANY vehicle! Ask for Murray and they usually have some in stock.

I purchased my '23 ZL1 Convertible M6 on January 6th. Took me 3 attempts to get a price but got the car for $4655 off sticker, plus an additional $750 Chevy loyalty rebate. This was selling the car at invoice plus a supplier discount. Also got 4.99% financing from GM Financial.
OP shop for cars on the Chevy site for what is in stock or in transit that is how I found mine.

This is the dealer I got my 21 ZLE from. Highly Recommend them.
This car is on the showroom floor. Just landed 2 weeks ago. Rapid Blue, 10sp, CF Dash, shift knob and Hood. Selling at MSRP.

This thread is so fitting for me. I had a dealer in Michigan with a ZL1 and they wanted $3k over MSRP. I was willing to purchase it but have GMS and wanted to use that. They declined my GMS even after reviewing the dealer invoice and showing the split in their profit was only $2k, if they were to sell it on GMS. I would have paid the extra $2k. They still refused. So I continued researching and just finished the deal for the exact same one in Indiana. They sold it for MSRP with the GMS and gave me a $500 rebate.

Three weeks ago I purchased my ZLE from dealer stock, and paid 3K over, less the $1250 that I qualified for through GM. I found dealers out of CA that would order for me at MSRP, however none could guarantee the build.
Additionally ordering out of CA also creates another issue that I wasn’t willing to trade for a couple of thousand dollars worth of savings. The issue with the State of CA, is they don’t recognize an out of State new car purchased at a dealer as an equivalent to a new car sold in CA with regard to emissions. It’s essentially protectionism. If you purchase a new vehicle in CA, you are exempt from the bi annual smog check for 8 years. If you bring in a brand new CA compliant car from out of State, they don’t recognize it and require an emissions test on your brand new car. Total scam. I absolutely hate the idea of being scammed by the State….

As a side note, most dealers even in CA were willing to deal on non ZLE variants of the Zl1. I’ve never purchased a car over MSRP, however the reality is with so few vehicles available you kinda have to understand the dealers stance. With the current economic problems and banking crisis people may be less likely to spend 80K on a car that’s not a necessity. There could be another wave of opportunity like what we saw with the early Pandemic pricing…..

People need to stop paying over MSRP for a mass-production car/truck etc. These dealerships need to be smacked in the mouth with all this nonsense. They got away with murder during the pandemic, and they continue this BS long after the hysteria is gone.

Manufacturers are making fewer cars/trucks now to get in on this money grab. They are raising the "base" price to help prevent dealers from marking up cars so high.. (jeez thank you)

While in principle I totally agree with you. It’s a free market and there are so few vehicles available, you either pay or you don’t get one. Knowing full well that the era of ICE is nearing the end, and the fact that this is the last manual trans Chevrolet performance car means you’re going to create a demand. At any given time there are only two of three ZLE’s in the entire country…..

I know.

Production numbers are increasing:
2018 - 6164
2019 - 3434
2020 - 1730
2021 - 1773
2020 - 2360

Consume now or consume later dilemma for a lot of people. I am willing to put it off and not play the game.

and that's the problem. They're only making ZL1's for another 10 months, so it's consume now or you're SOL forever (at least if you want ICE w/stick).

Honestly you’re better for it. For the last five years I’ve been obsessed with this car. I was thrown the keys to a ZL1 when I was purchasing a car for my mom. I honestly thought I’d hate it. First off it was an automatic and it wasn’t a 1LE. I already owned the car I’d always wanted……. Anyway I was absolutely blown away by the ZL1 and more importantly I couldn’t believe how good the 10 speed really was….. From that day forward I’ve constantly been thinking about the car. When it was 65k I thought, it’s an awesome car, but 65k for a Camaro. Now you’re knocking on mid eighties out the door. I thought don’t be stupid. Well, lol now you know the rest of the story, oh and I had to have a manual, though I loved the auto!

Anyway you know what’s best for you, and it seems you already own one!
