I don't believe that are any like you're referring to that I can think of. It's either ZL1 Addons or ACS

Just got my ZL1 last week and my ceramic coating rep told me I should apply protective film to areas where debris hits the body and/or buy rock guards. He advised that basically every 5th or 6th Gen Camaro he sees with no protection has pitted paint on the lower quarter panels, front and rear, from road debris. After exhaustive research on this topic, and totally against my financial conscience, I ordered the ACS Composites front and rear rock guards… my decision was heavily swayed by the folks on this forum that have them, highly recommend them and advise that they look OEM.
That all said, never thought I’d spend 400 bucks on mud flaps! |

I went with the ZL1 Addons a couple of weeks ago. They were about a $100 for the front and rear set. No drilling and can be installed without removing the wheels. I think they look good and should provide some protection.

The only one that looks even remotely similar to OEM splash guards is the $400 ACS part. All others look like mudflaps, some much better than others, but they cost 4x less. Your call

with these things you can have aesthetics, or protection, but not both. (pretty much)

No rock gaurds/mudflaps for me. I have PPF only and its been just fine. 3 guys I know with Camaros(2 other ZL1'S and one SS 1LE) only did PPF and they all have said they have ZERO rock chips/pitting on their paint. One of the ZL1 guys tracks his also. So to me, it appears that the rock gaurds/mudflaps aren't NEEDED. Plus, a sports car with mudflaps just looks wrong..

Depending on the roads driven, the occasional rock may find its way to the rockers even with side skirts, but a thick PPF will probably block these indeed. I for one don't mind the way my Rokblokz guards look, their cut matches the car's lines, the front is wide enough, the rear extends all the way across 305 and 315 wide tires, and its edges are nicely outlined with a gloss black bead, so it's a "glorified mudflap" at the very least

I tolerate my ACS guards only because they're on the car. I can still sling tire goo on the sides of the car with them on, which, to me, means there's a good chance I could still get rocks flung up the side, too.
I still think PPF is a better option, but don't think it's cost effective, considering it's apparent life.

Use a water based tire shine, and wipe it on instead of spraying it on. Then you won't have that problem.

I went with the rokblokz in the front. I modified the rokblokz for the rear (cut off the upper portion as it caused a twist. I have the ZL1 add on rears coming in today to try. I am not a fan of the ZL1 add on clip method for the front. The rokblokz have a good method for the front but the only issue is the cheap tab clip strips out very easily. Solution for that was a nut behind it with a machine screw.

FWIW, changing out the tires will pick up less rocks, too. Not a fix-all, but an improvement in what does get picked up and tossed at the bodywork. The SC3's pick up all manner of pebbles, even when cold.

Quick follow up: the ZL1 add ons rears fit very well. So my $.02 is rokblokz in the front and ZL1 add ons in the rear. If anyone is interested I have the modifications to the rokblokz is this video. It’s a bit long but goes through the trial, error and modifications. For the front you don’t need to add the nut but it think it gives a more positive clamp. https://youtu.be/t56kdzdSo1s |
