Long tube headers CEL
Has anyone ever installed Long tube catless headers and then installed a bung extension or some form of add on like that to keep the CEL off till I tune it in the spring? I know on my old car I added a bung extension and it kept the CEL off till I tuned it.

I would think you would get a p0420/p0430 cat efficiency code after a few drive cycles when the ECU detects Bank1/Bank2 Sensor2 not giving the correct response.

There isn't much you can do about it. Without cats the code is going to show up. Even with cats it'll pop up sooner or later. It's annoying to look at but it'll but it won't hurt anything.

That is what I had assumed but then I had someone tell me you can get a 90° bung extension that will trick it into reading correctly. So I know there are some hit or miss stories with extensions working. Thanks!

That is exactly what I don't look forward to. Seeing a light on lol. I guess I will have to deal for a shirt time.

The code will show up no matter what you do or add until those codes are turned off in the computer. There are about 16 codes that need to be turned off when running catless.
Green cats wont help either, most of the time they are too far away from the exhaust port on the engine and they dont fire off quick enough. The ECM still trips a code for inefficiency with them.
