$35000 to $55000 for a car, it shouldn't come with messed up paint. Had a 2012 and now a 2017 and orange peel is all I see. GM's seem to be the worst.

The workmanship fit and finish and quality control on these cars leaves a lot to be desired. No excuse for the thin paint and primer showing through on inside areas. My 2019 Chevy Sonic daily driver has no thin paint or visible orange peel and has much better fit and finish than my $40K plus Camaro.. Kinda Sad.....

The orange peel in question is in the clear coat, my 17 1SS has it as well as my 2012 RAM 2500, the only 2 ways is either the denim pad whish takes forever or wet sand using 2000 then 3000 grit sandpaper, I did a section on my truck and it does come out and after you polish it out, it looks like glass, on another note, if my car went to a body shop and it came out looking like that, I wouldn't accept it.

You can reduce orange peel, but without a re-spray, you can never get rid of it. Here's a vette done a few years ago with 2000 grit, then 3000, then rotary buffer, then orbital. You definitely have to know what you're doing and it very much helps to use a paint thickness meter when you do it.

Nobody likes orange peel and obviously a properly sanded vehicle like the vette above will look a heck of a lot better. However, this should be qualified with the long term potential repercussions if you don't know what you're doing and/or dont have the right tools. Removing clear coat may affect the long term durability of the finish since you'll simply have less of it left. My approach was to use a DA polisher - do a proper polish when new and keep the car maintained with a good coating. Will it ever be as good as the Vette? Nope. However, I almost certainly removed a heck of a lot less clear doing a quick cut and polish.
