Anyone do a short drive on stock ZL1 summer tires?

Long story, but have had a few challenges getting my stock summer tires swapped out with some winter tires. Now it’s pretty cold out, maybe lucky to get a day with the high around 40. I know they say you aren’t suppose to drive on the tires below 40 but wondering if others have and what the impacts really were? I’m hoping to be able to drive it a short distance (about 10 miles) to get the tires swapped, just don’t want to crack the stock tires. Any input / experience would be helpful. Oh, and I already have the tires so I would like to get it done, otherwise it was a waste of money.

I wouldn't think it's a problem. I drove mine to work this morning (temperature was 43). I've driven both of my last 2 gen 6's with summer tires in the low-mid 30s. No issues so far. I really wouldn't worry until it gets to the 20s or below.

I will say you should drive super conservatively. Think 90-year-old woman driving to the bingo hall kind of slow. It doesn't take a whole lot of throttle to get a little sideways at these temperatures.

Also, if yours is garage kept, your garage is likely to be higher temperature than outside. Your tires probably won't even make it down to ambient temperature during a 10 mile drive.

I agree with all of this. If it were my car I would not hesitant to drive it in 30-40 weather as long as the roads do not have snow and ice.

I drove on the SS 1LE / ZL1 tires multiple times in the 25°-40° range with zero issues. Drive on them and dont worry about it. Take it easy, give the tires time to warm up.

I was out doing launches with drag radials in 45 degree weather and cruising in 30 degree weather...No problems. I believe the biggest thing is to not let the car sit outside in cold weather for extended periods of time. That is what compromises the rubber on drag radials or summer/run flat tires. Driving around the tires warm up quite a bit even in cold...you should see the tire psi increase and that is from temperature change.

Drag radials here out doing 800hp pulls with the temps in the 30’s. Like above I don’t park outside so they are warm when I leave the garage.

Your fine.

Appreciate the feedback from everyone. My car does sit in the garage , so hopefully all will be good. Have an appt on Friday to get tires swapped out, so now I just have to hope the forecasted snow doesn’t come early!
