Rear tire and wheel size?

If the forum would chime in with some options for drag race rear wheels and tires. Racestar makes a very popular option with most cars running the 17" and a few had 18". Caryle has a awesome kit for 15" as you guys know. I spoke too the president who by the way is a very nice and down to earth racer. He said we make these cars go fast period! I like the kit and he said you loose zero stopping power; wilwood is now making his calipers for the kit.. I would like to know a Jegs part number for the wheels and tires for rear only; that would be great! I guess i am leaning towards the 17" wheel and tire combo.
I hope everyone has a great day and may you lose a tenth of 60 ft. time.

I have the 17" Racestars that I got from summit , look in this section at the Dragpack racestars questions thread it has all the part numbers . If I could do it over I would do the 15" conversion with a more lighter wheel also more tires to pick from lighter wheels lighter brakes = quicker car Its all about the money

I am going to save my pennies and go with the 15" Caryle kit. Can i run a factory 20" wheel on the 15" conversion or does that mean i have to always run a 15" wheel?

You can still run 20s whenever you want.

I had a very less than stellar experience with the company when I bought my wheel conversion. I wouldn't buy anything from them again, but they are the only ones that sell the conversion kit

Smallest and lightest wheel with shortest tire you can fit on an NA application. 28" would be the tallest you want on an FI application imo.

Racestars are not as light as they advertise. Ask me how I know. The only option for a 17" cost effect drag pack is the Forgestars. If you have 4 piston Brembos you can make the 17x4.5 with a 120.65 x 5 bolt pattern work. Most will say the 18x5 is the only option from forgestar. Ignore that. Our bolt pattern is technically 120 x 5. But the 120.65 should work (YMMV)

Race star 17x4.5 - 21lbs
Race star 17x9.5 - 25lbs

Forgestar 17x10 - 19lbs
Forgestar 17x4.5 - 16lbs

Drag radial or bias ply for auto
Bia ply only for manual.

I run the 17x10 Weld S71 out back and the 17x6 up front. 305/45-17 ET Street R’s in back for now and the M/T Sportsman Radial up front in 28x6.

They’d work perfect for an AT car, but I’m going back to a Bias Ply next year with my M6.

They are expensive wheels, but I like them more then the Racestar’s

Aluma Star 2.0
Size: 15'' x 10''
Bolt Circle: 5 x 4-3/4''
Rear Spacing: 7''
Finish: Black

I was curious if this is too much rear spacing. I was told that i should be able to fit 6 or 6.5". Any help would be much appreciated. thanks in advance. and do i need the 15x10? or 9.5? I'm trying to get as light as i can with the rotating mass...

bump. the 15" rear Caryle kit is out of reach for the foreseeable future. So... I have factory wheels in the rear. Is there a tire that i can put on that rim that will hold 635RWHP? I don't mind a slower et, if it will 60 foot better than the CF8 venture with blazing fast 2.8 times haha haha. I was super embarrassed up there, but still loved meeting everyone on here that i chat with. I just think..... and I maybe totally wrong, but if you hook up the car it will be much more fun vs. spinning.....I was looking at the Mickey Thompson 20" tires? I still have to be able to drive it daily without switching the tires. It looks like the MT et street tires have less groves than the ss? Any and all suggestions are welcome. I just want the darn car to hook!!! Thanks in advance for all the helpful comments.

I can't get the 305/35/20 ET Street SS to hook from a "drop the hammer"-style launch on a stock 2SS, not to mention your 635rwhp. The MTs put the stock tires and Toyo R888Rs to shame, though - those would spin through 3 gears whereas the Mickey's spin briefly then grab and go...still not consistent for drag racing. I am thinking the high South Florida heat and humidity is part of my particular issue...eager to see how the car launches come November time frame with less heat, humidity and dew.

Did you relocate the wiring harness for the 305/35’s?
