New Guy

Greetings all,

I've been lurking around the camaro6 forum for a little while and figured it was time to introduce my self. I actually bought my camaro nearly a year ago, but putting it away for the winter has felt like a trial (spring can't come soon enough). The car is a 2019 1SS with a 6 speed. Only option is the NPP exhaust. In any case, now that I've given the car nearly an eight month shakedown, I'm starting to get the itch to start tinkering (definitely going to start small), and hope to lean on the experiences of the members here.

Since it's my first post and all, I might as well throw a question out to the audience. For those of you who put away your car in the winter, what do you look for before deciding to take your car out on the road? I'm personally just looking for a deluge or two to rinse off most the salt and sand on the roads.

Pic of the car below:

CONGRATS on the ride, and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5/6. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wives', husbands, girlfriends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

Having resided in Buffalo, NYC and many years in Maine I also dreaded the winter months where I had to put my classic cars into hibernation. Usually about April I would disconnect the battery tender, remove the cover and pull them outside for a spring batch and detailing. I NEVER drove until ALL signs of snow were gone and we had a couple of rains to wash off the road salt, silt and sand. Before relocating to NC I (regretfully) sold my 1954 custom Chevrolet 3100 along with my 1968 Charger RT, I kept my 1996 Impala SS (six speed) that I just sold last July. NONE of these vehicle had any indications that they had spent time in the "salt belt"!

By the way, "Welcome" to the Forum and I must say you have a wonderful looking ride and I am sure you will keep it that way.

Larry
