I called two dealerships in my area and they are saying there is no oil change due until you hit 5000 miles. I am wary about taking my car to a dealership that does not know the difference between an impala and the LT4 Corvette motor.

These dealerships are clueless sometimes and want to rush we’re doing these oil changes not to mention the fact that I cannot get an appointment until January 16 at the earliest.

For this reason I was thinking about changing the oil myself just to ensure it’s done properly. But I do agree with getting the first oil change done at the dealership for warranty purposes just to cover your ass.

I have used this oil in two changes. Make sure you don't add the whole 10L, since 10L=10.6 Qts. So you should have a little more than half a quart left over. Can be used to top off, if needed later.

Does anyone have any deals and places to get this oil in Alberta, Canada? The local GM dealer wants around $20.00L. That's highway robbery. The link above for the 5W40 works, but no international shipping.

Any help would be appreciated.

Perfect! I use the Motul stuff for a variety of cars for many years. Superior quality with a lot of racing experience with OEs and Racing teams alike.
The X-Clean 8100 variant is indeed Dexos2 certified, so covered by GM's warranty.
Regarding the PF64, make sure you get the Part# ending with "445" (not easy to find because they are phased out). Unfortunately, the newer PF64s with the "048" ending Part#, are cheaply made and should be avoided.

The alternative is therefore, to source from the manufacturer - Champion Laboratories in IL, under the "Champ" brand. They make them for AC and for GM.
The correct Part# of champ is 00064XL and this one is the same as the
"Good quality" ACD PF64 with the "445" Part#

You are better off getting the 8100X-Clean 5W40 (Fully Synthetic) in the future, since the 6100 is not fully synthetic oil, it is HC (Hydrocrack / "Technosynthesis), which is of lesser quality.
However, in general, Motul is excellent quality and Dexos approved!

As to the Oil Filter, this is the correct Part# you want. I know, this shop link is relatively expensive and it can be found for less. Just to provide the best ACD filter Part# to look for.
