Tune, gears, warrantee, all that stuff again...but

Let's not rehash all the warrantee stuff, but I thought I might approach this from a different angle So Ted...help me here

My main subject is gears. And I would be the guy wanting to protect my warrantee as much as possible. It seems to me gears and a CAI may be the best way to go for us on the fence and not wanting to tune an otherwise stock Camaro to get that extra 15hp and some more fun in the drivability...So....4:10's in a SS M6 and add a CAI

My questions are:

What happens with the factory torque management settings when you install new gears...do they continue to defeat you? Or do you get multiplied torque...how does this interact with the new gears

Do you have to flash the ECU to fix the speedometer?

It seems like I could simply tell the dealer what I've done and lose only the warrantee on the rear end. And if there is tweeking to be done for the speedometer, let them do it

I believe the dealer can do it with the MDi. Best to talk to them and see. Otherwise yes, you'd have to program the PCM and the TCM if an auto

if you dont reduce torque management with a computer program, it will stay attached and remain active. Although you may defeat your CAGs with high enough gears and wouldnt have to tune them out.

you can install a procharger, bolts ons, heads and cam, but you'll still have TQMT unless you remap your system

1) Nothing unless we change it in the tune, but it may not work if the speedo is out of calibration.

2) Yes,Change the Gears you have to tune to correct the speedo and for the 4 wheel ABS to work right.

3) I don't think the Dealer can change the speedo cal.

Ted.

Thanks Ted..I get it. So in short, gears are not a solution to "get around tuning your car"
