racing seat dilema!
hey guys as some of you know im picking up my first camaro (a '14 1ls) on saturday! my plans are to keep it as a daily but also have the ability to do some auto x or a HPDE at Nola motorsports. One thing i've been trying to figure out is the seats. More than anything id really love to have a set of those amazing new recaros from a 1le or something that could hopefully bolt right in with no lights or codes n no problems!Since this is a daily driver i'd still need air bags to go off if i got into an accident on the streets. My main worry is ifi went with aftermarket recaro or corbeau seats, some one hits me and its not my fault my bags dont go off and the insurance company raises and eyebrow. Doesnt the camaro have a passenger sensor or something that only works connected to the stock seats or is theyre ways to still make front air bags work with aftermarket seats and not have a light? My last option is to send my seats out to a reputable upholstrey place (im near new orleans if anyone knows one) and get them redone with a set of harness pass throughs installed in them. Has anyone here done that? If anyone could give me any advice id greatly appreciate it! ( no cg lock or angel pads refrences please)

Recaros are nice but aren't sold outside for aftermarket installation. I think I read that they are only sold for initial production. Would have been sweet though. I fyou find out differently, let us know

would you mind elaborating woodside?
and I'll let you guys know if i find out anything about the recaros. I would think they'd eventually be avaliable through gm. After all if you have them on your 1le and somethung happens to them and you want to replace them, GM is just gunna say oh well? thats not good business practice. It pains me to say it but Ford (while charging a premium for their recaro seats) still made them avaliable to everyone! You can flip open the ford racing catalog and order them up! GM i hope your taking notes, believe it or not people with V6 and standard SS camaros take them to the track AND daily drive them and would like a proper but street safe racing seat. i know im not the only one who would pay top dollar for them if they became avaliable! |
