I noticed in the RPM video that the ZL1 they had on the dyno was showing the oil pressure spiking to over 80 psi. I commented on the video asking what they did to make that happen and he said that "they all do that, we did nothing to the oil pump."

What??

Video for reference, I think I have it set to the point where he's showing the gauge cluster - https://youtu.be/OV5LBg7Kd7g?t=1209

I notice my car spikes to 80 sometimes also, it happens when I rev it out on a pull in 2nd or 3rd and lift, it spikes after I lift.

Tonight oil pump gave out at 18k miles.
No oil pressure 15 miles from home.

So looking at the dates of this thread you’ve been driving it for 3 years roughly with low oil pressure and it failed now? About how many miles have you driven?
I would definitely revisit the case with GM

I would go to the dealer and bring in the service paperwork when you had them check the oil pressure. Please keep us posted to their customer care.

Its in their system.
I would go directly to GM at this point, unless the car has some kind of extended warranty and is covered. But if it is not covered under warranty I would be making the biggest scene at GM.
Its a well known issue, and all the signs were there.

Keep us posted and good luck.

Do you still have your original oil pump? If so, how many miles are on it? If not, what were the miles when it failed? Thank you for your reply.

I have a 2017 with 16k miles and yes its the original. Pressure is still good on mine. I am at 28-30 warm idle and 38-40 driving. Which from what I read is pretty normal.

Thank you. I've been trying to see if any original pumps exist and when they fail. I've been going to the Camaro Nationals each year and seeing if there is any consistent mileage but it seems to vary from approximately 6k to cars in the tens of thousands with the original pump. I think 50k is the most I have heard with the original and still going.
