Best time to snag a 2SS

Hello all, I have been looking for a gently used 2016/2017 2SS, 6SP, Mag ride and dual mode for months. Literally nothing on the used market. I came across a 16 2SS with 18K miles for $34k. Was sitting in the dealership ready to purchase and manager came out to apologize that he had already sold it to a guy in Cali and had gotten the papers back that morning. The salesman had no idea but I was the one who was disappointed (this happened at a reputable dealer here in Michigan who is mentioned quite a bit). Long story short I was heartbroken and have continued my search. I hear there may be a deal to be had in October or so with dealers trying to move their inventory but how likely is this?? I am hopeful that with the 2018 2SS 1LE option coming soon some guys will trade in their loaded 2SS for an upgrade. Am I delusional?

Thanks

Month end is when dealers are trying to meet quotas for new inventory for dealer credits from GM. Seems that a lot of 2SS cars that had been on the lots for 6 months or more were suddenly selling this week. So now seems to be the time to buy. Most of my top picks were already sold by today and pickings were getting pretty slim. Managed to get a decent deal on a well-appointed new 2SS today being the last business day of the month in Canada. Probably more used will be available once the '18s start showing up on the lots.

2017 production is over and the existing '17 Camaros are moving fast. You could probably wait til the "end of the year" sale in October and get a great deal on a Camaro but you'll be choosing from the leftovers and probably won't get the color and options you really want. This is the reason I went ahead and bought now.

I had the same internal debate but considering I didnt want to compromise on colors/options I grabbed mine two weeks ago as it was difficult to locate already.

When you find a deal you can't walk away from. Nov - March 2018 for the last of the 2017's. That's the upgrade plan at least, unless the refresh has something that I lust after.

Now may actually be a great time. I picked up my 2ss for 39.5k plus tax. It's pretty much fully loaded except for the dual exhaust. 48k msrp. Chevy is also doing their fourth of July sale. I think many will typically argue that 4th quarter is the best time and I would answer with two things 1. The pickings may be slimmer this year because the cars have been more heavily discounted 2. Your deal on the end of the year is more contingent on how cold it gets in your home state then. I don't think you are going to see the same glut of Camaros like the end of last year. Anyway, I recommend getting the car when you find exactly the one you want.

I started thinking about a new 2SS around January of this year and test drove a couple. However the dealers didn't seem to want to deal much on them and I wasn't going to pay $44-46K for a Camaro.

I wasn't even thinking about trading again until mid-June when I came across an internet ad for a local dealer who had two black 2SS's that were marked down to 38K and 37K. I was gonna go buy one but decided to do some browsing on the internet first and came across a 2SS with the 50 anniversary package on it. I had never seen one or even heard about them so I decided to check it out before looking at the two black ones. I was really impressed with the 50 and was offered an excellent deal so I bought the 50 anniversary on 16Jun.

Out of curiosity about a week after I bought the 50 I checked on the two black ones and they were both gone. I think the dealers are cutting some good deals to move their 17s in anticipation of the 18's and now is a good time to buy.

I did the same thing for all the reasons cited. When I found what I wanted (and it wasn't easy since stock is low), I just went ahead to make the best deal I could and pulled the trigger. Very happy with that decision.

I was in your shoes as well. Finding 2016 2SS cars seems to be hard because most people seem to hold onto them. I found the market very bare.

Ended up driving 4 hours to Atlanta and picking up a 2SS with 9k miles for $33k out the door with extended warranty. Have been very happy with it thus far.

If you want a 2SS, get a 2SS, do not settle for a 1SS as the upgades on the 2SS in my opinion are too goo to pass on.

Just curious; did you try a search on autotrader? Looks like quite a few listings to choose from in the USA.

Start here. Totally worth it to fly somewhere and spend a couple hundred to save thousands. That's what I did.

I recently got my 2SS 6M slightly used (1200 miles) with magneride for just over $34k; thought was a decent deal.
