Valvetrain noise?

My 2020 LS makes a bit of a ticking noise under acceleration- starting around 2000 rpm and getting louder as engine speed increases. It’s not very loud; I’ve tried recording it with my phone and it isn’t audible. Oddly, I don’t hear anything when revving the engine in park/neutral- it only happens while in drive.

Is this normal? The LS doesn’t have an engine cover (thanks GM) so I’m just wondering if it’s a normal sound that would typically be masked by an engine cover?

But isn’t DI tick most prevalent at idle (and not under load)?

Generally, but every engine/injector is different. My friends SS is loud at idle, mine is barely audible. Have no idea why, but it's different. Is it louder on cold start?

Nope, if anything it seems to get a little louder once the engine warms up.

Might want to take it in then, all of the symptoms make it seem like it isn't DI tick.

Yeah, the dealer claimed they couldn’t hear it, and I don’t think I can stand another 3 days in one of their loaner Equinoxes. Maybe I’ll see if the guy that changes my oil can diagnose it.
