Headlights..
Hello all.
I bought the following. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Light-Bar-2...IAAOSwHMld1KpQ I had them installed and they look great. BUT. First they did not level the lights. When i took it home that night i could barely see anything in front of me. They were real low to the ground. took it back yesterday and supposedly lights were leveled. They were better but not enough for me to see ahead of me. So I went ahead and used the adjustment knob and the left light went up and i could see better. the left light and the same knob would not go higher like the left would. so the right light is about maybe an inch or less higher than the left one. the knob just clicks and wont go higher. any ideas on how to make it higher? the link will show you the knob i speak of. thx

Hate to be the one to tell you this, but aftermarket headlights are all going to have issues. Especially $300 dollar pair. I had bought and tried 3 different kinds on my fbody when I was a cheap ass college student. None were ever any where close to being quality made. Adjustments were a problem. They all used inferior light sources (usually a fog light in a projector lens, absolute shit). I would return those headlights and go back to stock or look for a quality made set.
FYI the OEM pair for the lower trims is over $1000 new. For SS and ZL1 OEM headlights, the pair is over $1500 new.

Echo Jax on this. OEM HID are the best....

Been there done that on many vehicles trying to get better light out of the headlights. Keep it OEM or spend the big bucks and do it right. I would never compromise on lighting and brakes, big safety issue for me when driving at night or through the mountains.

good luck. Phastek has a pair for around a grand that looks pretty nice and looks like its pretty well made.

You can take the stock headlights and have them retro fitted to get better light output. I had a 2012 Nissan Maxima that had the projector housings but with incandescent bulbs. All I had to do was buy a quality HID kit and did it myself. Good luck sir

As Jax said I have the aforementioned headlights from phastek and they are great! They are far better output than the OEM HID units equipped on my my car, they are compatible with the halogen equipped models as well but you have to pay the price for their quality.

Agree with all the guys above. The price is too cheap to get something good out of it.

legendary70, if it helps, I went through a similar experimentation with the standard halogens on my previous Camaro, and eventually got a pair of takeoff HID headlights from an SS that took care of the night visibility problem.
I tried LED bulbs, but when installed into halogen projectors, the beam pattern was weird, the cutoff line washed out and way too high, so I didn't want to keep them even though visibility improved a lot. There are many-many LED bulbs to play with, but I didn't want to push it. If you want quality aftermarket LED headlights that also set your car apart, Morimoto has a model for $1150 per pair: https://www.theretrofitsource.com/Ch...LED-Headlights. Not cheap either, but definitely much less than OEM, and as others said, with headlights you usually get what you pay for.

My car had the OEM Halogens... Which were not fantastic. I swapped in the HIDs (this requires a wiring harness to do) and they're probably the best headlights on any car I've ever owned. Cost about $1200 to do it.
There is a reason eBay mods have a bad reputation, they're normally cheap junk. |
