Secondary Cats HELP
Hey Guys,
Having one heck of a time getting secondary cats taken off the car. Going to leave the muffler with NPP on. From what I've seen and heard, I think that's better than going secondary cat and muffler delete. What are your guys' thoughts? My main question is this: Does ANYONE have any reference that I can use to get this done ASAP (Im in NorCal Walnut Creek/Concord area. Will travel). I've tried 6+ shops. Nothing. No cash/no receipt didn't work. Lastly, wanted to wait for longtubes until I save up for cam, heads, tuning, etc. Thanks, |

Don't tell the shop they're CATs, tell them they're resonators. I've heard that works sometimes.

Try a local mom 'n pop shop in the shady part of town.

Don't put any shops on blast on here. Keep it through PM if you're going to mention shops to try. You could get them in trouble and that would also hurt the community.

Now that they are gone any check engine light? I have had mine removed for a few days and just got a light on. I think it means the welds are bad.

Yes, no 2nd cats will pop a CEL. Doesn't necessarily mean the welds are bad.

No, it won’t. The secondary cats are not monitored by the ECM (no O2 sensors after them). Removing them does not set a CEL. If your CEL is on, something else is the issue, exhaust leak being the most common after that type of work.

Thank you guys for the answers. I have another question. My check engine light came last night from the little exhaust leak. Then this morning when i fired it up the car went instantly into limp home mode..... after i shut off the car and turned it back on everything was normal. Has that ever happened to anybody?

Bad welds. Your o2 sensors are getting fresh air from a gap in the welding.
I've had my 2018 off over a year and no CEL. |
