Yeah that's what I thought. Why spend the extra money to change the hardware on the engine depending on what transmission the car has? Much easier and cheaper to just turn it off via tune. If that's the case, which I believe it is, that AFM hardware is still being used (lifters etc).

Mine doesn't. On the C7 Corvette there was a second set of valves in the exhaust system that activated to reduce Noise and resonance. Not sure of the A8 Camaro has these, but the M6 does not..The Cylinder disconnect is likely handled Via software and VVT..

You can see the valves just above the mufflers in this C7 cutaway..

Sounds normal, these direct injection engines have high pressure fuel pumps and you are going to here the injectors more in these cars.

Dealer said it is normal but they want to take the belts and the intake manifold off to check everything though....It seems wierd that they say it is normal but wants to check, but I am glad they are doing so.

Correction
- If diagnosis in SI does not isolate the noise, replace the drive belt tensioner.
After some testing, I'm pretty sure that this is what my car is experiencing. I only notice the noise when it's in V4, usually between 30-40mph.

My question is, what exactly does a Technical Bulletin mean I should do? Take it. Ack to the dealership?

I can't say I've paid particular attention to noises on decel at around 3k RPM, but as loud as that sounds on video, I would say it's not normal. I have a M6 and haven't heard that yet.

Definitely update us and let us know what it is if they find anything.

I have my car in right now for this exact issue. They are replacing the tensioner. So who knows if it will fix the issue. But it is definitely not normal and is extremely annoying. Even worse if your going up a hill.

Sorry I can't hear any strange noise either. I pulled the foam out of the sound tube, pulled the exhaust fuse and set my NPP to track mode on my SS. I do hear some air intake noise when shifting and running hard sometimes. I would keep tabs on it and if it gets worse take it back to the dealer and let them check it again. Good luck!

And I do have a Cold Air Inductions CAI system so mine will not have a stock airbox sound.

I didnt want to bring a corpse from the grave but I had this issue and feel I figured it out and might be able to help anyone else in the future.

Little back story, I bought a low millage 2016 2SS and it already had a CAI intake on it. On the 240 mile drive home I kept hearing this noise and was worried I bought a junk car luckily that was not the case. I came across a thread talking about removing the foam in the sound tube, since it was a
quick easy job I decided to try it and if I didnt like it I could easily return it.
Well the sound I was hearing actually got WAY louder and was exactly what I
must have been hearing. I reinstalled the foam plug and I traced the tube to the firewall above the throttle pedal and inserted a square chunk of memory foam I had. The sound now is gone and I can actually hear the true sounds of the wonderful LT1 and not some fake rattle that the sound tube was filling the cabin with.

Very hard to tell in the video where the sound is coming from. Almost sounds like a heat shield rattle from what I can tell. Check the all heat shields down the exhaust system first.

Sorry for reviving this old thread but did you ever get this fixed with the dealer replacing the belts and such, or is this in fact normal? Mine makes this exact noise in this exact RPM range as well.
