It's far from clear what architecture the ATS replacement (smaller) will come from.

One of the problems Cadillac has is the compromise from making the CTS from the much smaller ATS. I believe Cadillac will be making the CTS replacement a true and awesome E Segment car.

Now how bad an ATS replacement gets making a much smaller car off of the CTS replacement, I have no clue.

Until today, I was under the impression that the XTS, CTS, and ATS were going away in favor of one car about the size of the current CTS, to be named the CT5. With the sales of sedans seemingly going down the tubes, having the CT5 and CT6 as the only cars in the Cadillac lineup made sense.

Now today I read something about a smaller CT4 coming, and then I read it here again. So which is it? lol.

Here's hoping we can have yet another great Camaro running around on Alpha II!

Well , they're eliminating cars that don't sell. But then they must replace them with similar, but different cars that are basically the same, but different. The CT, AT, 5/S/4-5 should make it crystal clear. Just pretend you understand what's what and that it's a good idea. After all, it's a Cadillac!...lol

CT4 will basically fill in where the ATS is now. CT5 will basically fill in where the CTS is now. XTS is going away, and the CT6 will remain as the large sedan in the lineup.

Trying to be similar to BMW and Audi. M3, M4, M6, X3, X6, A3, A4, A7, A8... boring.

with out going into corporate espionage, there will be a gen7 Camaro, and Cadillac was saying (in the news) that it does want to kill of the ATS. Camaro will be on a different platform. IF I'm not mistaking, Cadillac only wants to have 4 types of models to choose from.

Yes, and the guy in charge did the same thing to infinity. And some salesmen complained they had people were walking off the lot because they couldn't figure out what car replaced the ones they had/liked. And GM thought he was genious and hired him. If I remember correctly, the sales jump he initially had happened at Infinity came with products developed under his predecessor, and when his ideas came out the sales dropped.and Caddilac had slowly climbing sales before they hired him, and falling sales the last few years. But remember, people are actually buying them now because they moved the HQ to New York City. Oh wait....

OK....The CT5 succeeds the ATS....The ATS becomes the CT4....So the CT5 and the CT4 are both the old ATS and the same car....nice, clear as mud.

The headline that said CT5 succeeded ATS, CTS, and XTS was simply wrong. It is just coincident that they are all dropping out of the lineup around the same time and the only replacement that has OFFICIALLY been announced is the CT5. It is only replacing the CTS. XTS is a FWD sedan that is simply going away with nothing replacing it directly. When ATS goes away, CT4 will replace it. CT5 has nothing to do with ATS, other than they will briefly share showroom space.
